Hi This is my LX torrie
Attached File  Torrie at home.JPG   35.55K   7 downloads
Got it on the road 2 days prior to last Christmas day decided to take it to mums for lunch.(My turn to dress up as Santa). I dressed up as Santa gave the kids their pressies looked outside it was very dark. I thought i will get out of this suit and move the car as it looked like it was going to be a storm. Quickly got changed, before i could even move the other cars blocking it it was being pelted by large Hail it was unsafe to move it so i ended up just getting the video camera out and click the below image and you will see what happened.

Posted Image
To cut along story short minor hail damage,Insurance paid out some money and im putting in a bit and the car is getting a full respray my Question is Im not sure of what sheme to base the new paint job on.
I dont want flares.
i would like to keep it an Lx Theme as the number plates have lxv8 on them
Should i put the black bonnet and top of guards coming around to the windows?
Front spoiler ?
rear Spoiler ?
bonnet scoop ?
Did the Lx come out with black bonnet In L32 any pics would be much appreciated.
Cheers from Mick.

velocity red for me (mazda Rx8 colour)

Wack a blended camaro style scoop on there with a bobtail.

What colour do the tags say the car was originaly?

No tips on coulor, but have you considered sending it to a paintless dent remover even if you still get it painted it will have less filler in it as they can get most of them out. Not like panel shops that do cheap spray jobs they just fill them with bog.

Do a google search for LX Torana and have a look at all the pics it will bring up, pick out all the ones you like and save them to a folder then sit down and study them, pick out the best bits you like about the car and or color/scheme.

When you have a list of features and you are any good with Photoshop get a picture of a Torana and add all the features you have chosen and see what it looks like then make changes accordingly.

I had this decision with Tracie's car just lucky she liked the color that was on it, just had to pick what blackouts she wanted, final decision was Manderine Red ( original color) with the LH SL/R 5000 stripes and blackouts.

+1 for the paintless dent removal, use the insurance money for that, then add to what money is left ( if any ) to get it painted when you work out what you want

Thanks for the info i brought the car to three paintless dent removalists they would not touch it due to the fact the car was painted in acrylic they stated the paint would be lifted or peel . The panel shop has told me we have to strip all the acrylic as the 2 pac paint will crack if we leave acrylic underneath so i am helping the spray painter strip the car literally right back , screens out etc .The scoop sounds like a good idea, the spray painter is a top bloke and gives the right advice this was his car .

he has sold it now. He has a mean hq with a beautiful paint job and said my car will come out similar to his hq thanks for your help i will keep pics coming of the rebuild if interested

We have made a start on the paint job. Due to not being able to find the existing color we opened a can of worms.
My spray painter decided to paint the whole car .This meant the engine bay had to be painted as well.
The new color is Permanent red with ceramaclear over the top.
will post pics as we take them..

Hi yes it was not my cup of tea either thats why if you look at the photo at the car show its blacked out.

Thats what happens when the Artist says he will "surprise me" any way am going to put a different scoop on it and get rid of that one.

I personally like reverse scoops, I think they look tougher. I'm also not a big fan of those rims & colour coded bumbers either but it doesn't look too bad. Each to their own.

Turned out nice mate.

Cheers, Nig.

The rims cost me nothing ,had them on the side of the shed for the last 25 years, pulled them out, polished them up and put them on.

They are not my cup of tea either, The plan is convo pros ,reverse cowl and a 308. So far it owes me ten grand as you see it.

I would have liked chrome bumpers but at the time i was on a tight budget. I am just happy i own a Torrie.

I hear you mate, Iv got polished wb caprice rims on my HX ute & a few people don't like them but I got them as I can't afford convo's. Keep plugging away mate, as I said it's turned out nice.

Cheers, Nig.

Yeah great colour but I agree on the scoop and wheels.

I also understand you can't do everything at once.

Unfortunately the great paint job makes a couple of other bits stick out but its still a great looking car.

I'd put it in my garage.
