Im planning the same project, bought the sr20 last weekend, did a bit of measuring and its still going to be a tight fit, rocker cover might be 400mm but then you have pulleys out front and manifolds are a bit longer and other stuff, more like 550 comfortably, and with a 700mm engine bay as you stated,  radiator and front mout intercooler, itll all be a very tight fit.
Anyway enough talking, have you made any more progress, would love to see any hints and tips of someone else doing it??
Its looking great so far, much further along then me.

I've thought for a while about putting an 18RG in a UC. G142 Hilux diff, Supra box, both of which I've got laying around, kind of a reverse Corona with a Starfire. Easy to do, use a Hilux sump, it's at the back and the exhaust is on the left. But I found out that even the hi-comp early one is only 140 horsepower, you'd have to inject it and turbo it to make the project worthwhile, something I want to avoid for now, so it's alot easier to put a warm 202 in it.

It is a good idea to stick something light in there, if you like going round corners. Why don't you get it regoed with a NA SR20... ? Then you can set it up (gearbox, diff) cheaper and put a turbo motor in later.
