That's some very cool concept art Dave! Don't see too many LJs with a scoop like that, I look forward to watching on with interest as I see it come to life :)

Didn't think there would be a Grille like that, could be wrong

Haha thanks mate, I certainly hope it inspires people to chase those dreams they're holding onto because a lot of my own inspiration has come from reading this forum and seeing what can be achieved by people with determination.

Does that grille extend right across the headlights? It's a bit hard for me to tell on my phone because the pic is a bit small. That will definitely be something different! I've always loved the dodge charger which has that kind of style so it would be interesting to see how it translates to a Torana :)

I can't believe it's getting close on a year since I've posted on this thread! Just thought I'd let you all know that things are plodding along 😁 Money has certainly been a bit of a factor in slowing things down, but I guess that happens to a lot of us.

The main progress since my last picture updates is that the car is now painted underside, jams, inners and bay. It's also rolling on a set of Simmons FR (17x10 and 17x8). I'm very happy with how things are looking but there is still a long journey ahead! All things going to plan, will have an engine in within the next month or so.

Apologies for no pics in this post, I will endeavour to put some more up soon. I've found a lot of my pics really don't do the colour justice (something I'm sure a few of us struggle with) so will try to take some more with a better camera.

Sounds good, and glad to hear your making progress, looking forward to seeing some pics, did you go with the original colour or something different?

Thanks mate, it definitely feels good to have some progress as the last 5 months or so nothing much has happened whilst I saved up for the next stage of work. Mind you 5 months didn't feel that long after waiting 13 or so years to get the project started haha! But will be nice to hopefully have some more regular progress once the engine is out the way and the things left to do aren't as expensive.

I've gone with a custom colour green. I decided I wanted something a bit different and this appears to have hit the mark. I think what has been laid down so far looks amazing so I'm itching to see the final product 😄

Hahaha I always think of
Meet the parents:

'Interesting colour, you pick it?'
'Oh no the guy at the counter.. Why?'
'Oh, they say geniuses pick green.. but you didn't pick it.'

Ok well still haven't been able to get any shots of the colour which really do it justice because my camera isn't really all that good and the pearl is just tricky to capture.  So the following image makes the colour look a lot darker than it is but hopefully gives you a bit of an idea.

Thanks mate, will hopefully start posting some slightly more regular updates now that the cost of the engine is behind me! Will look to post a few more pics of current progress when I get a chance too.

Hey covert, engine hasn't been stroked and is nothing too crazy 😉 though I have forked out some decent dosh for some good quality parts and I also wanted it nice and dressed up for show hence why I've gone with the shiny bits. Hopefully it will all come together nicely and compliment the engine bay. It should hopefully be trial fitted in the next week or two, so that will likely be my next big update.

Ok well here are a few more colour pics.. as you can see it is rather different in every shot! the door was kinda covered in dust so prob not the best shot and also a bit of dust in the foreground of that pic looking down the guts of the car.  The engine bay pic looks quite dark compared to the actual colour and that's actually still on the rotisserie in the booth at that point and I've just rotated the pic for you.

A snap of her rolling (note that those flares obviously will be fixed prior to painting..)

and a couple of the wheels that I decided to have in colour.  Probably not everyone's taste but I'd seen it done before and liked the look so thought I'd run with it.  No doubt I'll have several sets of rims for this car to suit my mood :P

Thanks for all your comments guys! Green wasn't my first choice for paint but I actually fell in love with a candy green I had seen and that's what ended up steering me in this direction. Decided against the candy in the end (too much hassle) but tried to go for a similar colour and you're right it does look a little like the poison ivy. I'm very pleased with it 😃
