Here is a bit of an update on car. Tim has enough to do without posting this stuff as well.

Now starting to take away all of the trim holes.

Also the ugly side quarter panel blinkers are gone!!!

Then it was time to fix the roof. In Tim's words the roof was 'crusty'!!

That looks better.

Then Tim decided to work on the door handles. I really like what he has done. There will be a lever up underneath that you won't see to open the door.

Then the other door for the same treatment.

Yes very normal for these cars. This car is actually pretty good!!! That's why they are very rare today as most have gone to tin worm heaven.

So a bit of an update on the build and where we are progressing. Tim (AKA Dirtbag) is amazing to work with. I am in Victoria and have never even laid eyes on the car and have only seen two examples in real life which makes it harder as we are going quite custom now. However Tim and I are on the same page and our tastes seem to be quite similar when it comes to cars. We have been bouncing various 'custom' ideas around and it is great that Tim is as passionate about the build as I am. See the E9 picture below however think smoothed and it will be something like that.

Basically where we have landed is a fully smoothed car. We have taken all chrome trim, badges, blinkers, side and bonnet grills off the car. Existing bumpers which have overrides and black rubber will be shaved down and smoothed also. It will definitely be silver. Color I think will be Glasurit Platinum Silver. See Monaro photo below. Interior is still up in the air as to color and also how 'custom vs stock' it becomes. Interior color options being considered at present are red, navy blue, tan or black.

In regard to suspension Tim has been working on options. Given I want to run 18 x 10 on rears (see wheel pic below) we need to tub it. Also because l want plenty of dish the rear end will need to be shortened. So that means existing IRS is going and we are using a 4 link coilover rear end. Will probably be a 28 spline Borg Warner. Regarding front end it looks like we will be going with a Rodtech or McDonald Bros independent custom set up with coilovers. This will sort out the steering clearance issues around engine that we Tim has identified once motor has gone in for trial fit.

Tim has been in direct discussion with Victorian engineer I am using. He has been really good and Tim is surprised as to how flexible he has been. Especially with what we want to do with front and rear end etc. Car needs a lot of chassis and body strengthening. This is because they were prone to flexing anyway with the straight six however with the LS1, which will be tricked up, it will be even more important. The car has to undergo a torsional test to get roadworthy because we are changing front and rear ends. So Tim is all over it and what is going to be needed.

So that's where we are at for now.

Awesome! I think the decision to go with the glasurit platinum silver is a good one. The glasurit premium clear we used on my torana is top-notch, use it on all our high-end jobs now.

This car all smoothed out, nice paint and the with the wheels you chose will look unbelievable, as long as you get the stance right (which is easier said then done).

Love it, keep up the good work!

Thanks Ryan. Yes it will be a long project. Stance/wheels of a car is everything to me Ryan so I can assure you it will be spot on (low). That is why we are having to go to the trouble with front and rear ends.
