Hi Graham
That one appears on the VIN disc as an S Model, 4 door, 6 cylinder. It was completed in Brisbane on 24/1/74 and sold by Tweed Motors P/L - Tweed Heads during Feb '74.
There is no engine number listed, but the original was a 2850cc type and the number would have been in the CD44xxxx to CD46xxxx range. The car was fitted with an auto transmission, disc brake front end and a 2.78:1 conventional differential.
Cheers

Hi Graham
That would be an S Model 2 door completed in Adelaide on St Valentines day in 1973. The original engine number was CD286485. It left the factory with a 2850 engine, auto transmission, disc brake front end and a 2.78:1 conventional differential. It was sold by Bayside Motors, Frankston Vic the same month.
Cheers

Hi All,
I have had a phone call from someone (who can't use a computer) trying to find out more about his project LC. Both front tags have been removed (believed to have had front end replaced in an accident repair). Only have the body number, LC14285B (date 08/70). So its Brisbane built but I can't provide him any other information. He believes it to be an XU-1, but who knows. He is keen to restore it mostly orginal but doesn't know what it should be. Any help is appreciated.

Hi John
The number that you have quoted is the "Chassis Number" not the "Body Number" but regardless of this, neither is any use in establishing the identity of the car in question. The missing VIN tag is the usual first step method of identification. From the number given it can be said that the car was probably completed in Brisbane around the third week of August '70.
If the car is a 2 door, 6 cylinder vehicle and it is not an 82911 model (ie GTR or GTR/XU-1) then it can only be an 82311 ("S" model). The Chassis Number LC14285B is only 1 off a known XU-1. This is a good sign but by no means definitive. There are distinctive features that can identify whether a 2 door 6 cylinder is an 82311 or an 82911 model but a close examination of the vehicle would be needed.

Hello All,
Just got a LC 4 Door off of Craig, and wondering if the only TAG matches the Chassis number:-
Just wondering if this:-
VIN - 82369CL6 6894
matches this Chassis number:-
Body# - LC04141A
I bought the VIN disc on eBay, and all the VIN info, is the same example, so that is a scam.
I had a bit of a search on Google, and all I can see, is that the VIN is a LC 'S' 4 door 202motor.
Any help is appreciated. Dave I

Hi
Can you clarify the VIN please. There should be 6 digits after the L
Cheers

Sorry Bazza,
I thought that was a space 2 digits after the L, it is almost flattened out there and with a pen or pencil rub on paper reveals nothing, but with the light reflecting here and there, I can see an 0 or a part of an 8, but that is not clear :-

Maybe it is a 7

Hi Dave
The Chassis Number fits squarely in mid - November 1969. This being the case there would be no ADR tag on the firewall.
In my opinion the car is L626894 which is a Perth built 4 Door S Model. It was completed on 15 Nov 1969 and sold by WA dealer 838 (unknown) during Dec '69. It left the factory with a 2250 cc (138 ci) 6 cylinder, 3 speed manual transmission, drum brakes all round and a 3.08:1 conventional diff.
It appears on page 802 of the VIN master listing.

Thank-you very much Bazza,
the top right of the '2' is what I thought was part of an '8', so you are spot-on me thinks. Dave I

Does any info say what colour it was, I should look up the '69' colour chart of colours - it looks like Backwash green at present.
Just checked, if the same colour was used, it must be 'Verdoro Green'

Hi
No further info appears on the disc. There were a number of 'green' colours available for the 1969 range.
Cheers
