Another one for Bazza's records.

10/73 4 door S Torana, 202 manual.

No VIN or paint trim tag, (radiator support panel so rusted there's no metal where they used to attach)

It looks like it's the original 202 motor installed.

I finally got hold of this VIN list that everyone talks about, that engine matches PSN L254323

Cheers Kev

Also if anyone keeps track of these things, this car had so much structural rust that it's beyond repair, it's been cut up for parts.

It's been sitting out in a paddock for years down on the coast, which is a real shame as it has done only 121,000kms.
Engine is still virgin bore, still had original head gasket on it!

My brother has a GTR without the original engine, this ones a pretty good match date wise so its going in his car.

So I'm guessing I should destroy the ADR plate and body number before sending the body out for scrap metal?

Cheers Kev

Hi Al

Sorry you've been left hanging.

L228642 is an S Model 2 door, completed in Adelaide on 26/1/73 and sold by Dillon's Of Ivanhoe, Lwr Heidelberg Rd., Ivanhoe during Feb 73.

The original engine was CD277231 (2850cc). It left the factory with a 3 speed manual transmission, disc brake front end and a 3.08:1 conventional differential.

The colour according to the numbers that you have provided makes it - Chateau Mauve Met. There should be a letter after the 48 on the Trim line of the Body Identification plate but it would be either Flax or  Sandalwood in colour.

Cheers

Bazza

No problem Bazza, thanks heaps mate thats awesome! Just verified it still has the original engine in it, looks like someone slipped the 4 speed in it before my wife purchasrd it back in 1992. Looks like its got an F after the 48 which would make sense as it had flax vinyl in it when I met her in 1994 but it was in pretty average condition so she had it trimmed in grey vinyl and velour. Might have to get myself a 3 speed and get the interior back to standard.

Hi Maz

The VIN appears as a Melbourne built S Model 2 door. No completion date but Chassis Number makes it late Nov '69 (so no ADR as mentioned).

The engine number (not listed) but appears to agree with similar numbers around that time. Sold by dealer 370 in Victoria.

Pharaoh Gold with gold trim. If the car originally had a white roof, that would appear on the Body Identification tag.

138cd (2250) engine, 3 speed manual transmission, drum brakes all round and a 3.08:1 conventional diff.

Cheers

Bazza

Hi

Most "gold" Holdens are metallic colour with the colour code commencing with 567 xxxx. Pharoah Gold is a non metallic solid colour so commences with 568 xxxxx.

Here is a big Holden in that colour - it takes a bit of imagination to call it "gold".

Cheers

Just noticed this one on Eb..y

Is this another example of the LC/LJ optioned with ""GTR"" stuff ( incl. 5.5 inch wheels) that means the factory deleted the 2nd boot bracket?

None of the optioned items on that LJ are what I would call RARE on an S model, except maybe the 5.5" rims.

The heater was std equipment on the LJ not optional equipment..
