Had a bit of a side project for a mate, before he fitted his new motor he wanted paint the engine bay and asked me to fix some rust and fill all the holes in the engine bay.

Now back to mine, fitted the fuel tank, changed the r33 hand brake cables to the r32 ones and fitted the rest of the hand brake. Also fitted the ATTESA pump and started working out which line I would be able to reuse. I might bolt everything together and take it to Show us ya wheels at Numurkah in December.

Had to cut out behind the front wheels for a bit more clearance.

Also fitted the wheels and put it on the ground. Will fit the motor and gearbox next.

G`day Glen, I`m a straight forward car restorer myself, leaning more towards traditional built cars as they came out of the factory, as I also have a lx ss hatch back myself which will be restored to a factory standard (yawn). but I have to say, just your mindset for creating your hybrid torana is pure genius. You total blew me away with your thinking. Was it a wheel base and track width that triggered your thinking. Also does the front strut towers need extra bracing, because of the standard toranas flexing issues. I`m just curious as I want to see what engineering master piece you will come up with next. This is the best balanced torana/chassis I`ve ever seen. Credit to you mate for thinking out side of box..

Hey, Iv thought of a heap of conversions just like this, some easier, some way more involved.....
....then I remind myself that I have no-where near the talent/balls/$$$ to pull it off & simply place my cue back in the rack.
Keep the updates coming mate, they do help with motivation.
Cheers, Nig.

I have an 05 subaru liberty gt that has a date with the angle grinder, just keeping an eye out for donor body. I'm thinking i might use the old Crown ute i have at our property, rusty as hell but cool looking. I wouldn't be bothering with rego tho, width and length wise it would be nearly perfect. If i was to do it, i would tackle it different way since i have no engineer to please. I was thinking of cutting the subaru body away from the floor/firewall, then cutting the floor/firewall out of the ute. Then lower one over the other and start filling in the gaps... I've just gotta finish a couple of other projects to free up some space :(.

Thanks guys. John there was no one thing that triggered the build, I just wanted to do something different and needed a bit of a challenge.
There will be more bracing under the front guards to the towers. As for the next project I was thinking of a torana nomad wagon.
Ryan, I don't know what wheels I will be running a lot will depend on what width and offset rims I can find.
Got a bit more done, fitted the motor and gearbox, tacked up the gearbox cross member using the skyline one.
Fitted 10mm spacers between the front subframe and the adapter plates to drop the motor down a bit for more bonnet clearance and fitted the radiator and intercooler.
