As others have said, engineering masterpiece is the perfect way to describe this car. I keep checking up on the thread to see if there is an update haha.

just interested what sort of welders you are using? Those catch cans and washer bottles are sooo nice :spoton:

cheers

I wanna know how many beers/bourbons it was before you chose to tackle such an insane job. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm jelous & I love it.

If I was as skilled as you I'd love to tackle a welding trolly as "horn" as that.

Maybe you should of taken that to the show 2 show off your skills :)

Cheers, Nig.

This thread really got me fired up.

So I got hold of a GTR Skyline shell, an LX K frame, a 173 with an M20 and a 3.36 Banjo.

There's more than one way to skin a cat they reckon...

What compound are those tyres? You could bring that trolley up to your high 2014 standards and maybe add a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) for those times you need to move the welder around the workshop very quickly. Throw in some carbon ceramic brakes and that trolley is ready for some fast lap times.

A heater or a jacket for the nitrous bottle could be worth your while also.

Hi guys not much to update just been buying a few parts, planning where the fuel and brake line are going to run and trying to work out

a bonnet hinge set up that will clear the skyline tower, thinking of maybe using VE commodore boot hinges

Have a look at Nissan Primera boot hinges.

From August 2002 Street Machine Your Stuff section, one Shane Mendoza giving advice to Steve Mowat, whose EJ sedan fitted with a Commodore strut front end was featured in the June 2002 edition, regarding his own 'extensively modified' old Holden fitted with a strut front end said --

"Three hours after obtaining a pair, my bonnet now opens and shuts perfectly. I cut off the lug for the gas stay, cut off the mounting plate for the boot lid and replaced it with the original plate cut from the bonnet hinge, and it works and looks great."

Maybe just what you need.

Small update, welded up the intake pipe and return from the synapse diverter valve to the intake.

Don't think I will use the air box I made.

Also trying to work out a bonnet hinge, going to make some in the style of VE commodore boot hinges.

These are just some pieces of flat bar to work out the lengths of the links and where the pivot points will be.

Should be able to make the bonnet swing up 90 deg.

Mate, honestly you can do better than those hinges..... A man of your calibre should be able to melt coke cans and make a set of billet alloy hinges.

As usual top work

I did look at doing that but it's so much harder to work on a car with a forward opening bonnet.
