I actually find it easier to work on the Celica than a 'normal' forward bonnet facing car, The bonnet sits completely vertical and out of the way, but i guess the engine bay is narrower and lower than the torry... I guess i have such little room between the front of the motor and the radiator/fans that front access wouldn't help me anyway *shrug*. Looks horn tho ;). Do rev bonnet with quick release latches off the bonnet hinges so you can pop the bonnet on and off haha.  Something like this, but made huge. so you lower bonnet into half the hinge then that spring loaded latch grabs the front, to remove simply lift the latch.

Ok ok sorry ill stop now :P.

Got the bonnet hinges made but still need some work. Will probably use a combination on small gas struts on the hinges and a bonnet stay to keep it up.

I'd love if all bonnets open up that much!

Bit of an update, brought some wheels, crossfire D-spec 18x9.5 also brought some hardrace rear arms. Started extending the sump

and filling in the bottom of it to hopefully help oil return.

Nice looking rim, the car will look tough sitting on those rims.

frOck yeah! As stupid as this may sound I was actually worried you were going to fit ugly wheels to this car. But they'll suit it perfectly! Nice work with the sump, like everything else.

Your black centre rims give that nice cross of modern/classic. I am a big fan of rims not overpowering old classic cars. Very nice custom job on the sump. For me being a corner carving hatch-man this has to be easily the most interesting project that I have seen on GMH Torana.

Do you know what body colour? (sorry if you have mentioned it before I am just being lazy LOL)

Welded up the sump but it distorted to much so I made up another one without the extra extension at the back.

Made a new pick up, still need to make a bracket back to the girdle and modified the windage tray.

Had the ETS-pro from Full Race turn up, finding this unit for the ATTESA was the trigger for starting the whole project.

The ETS-pro certainly looks to be a vital ingredient for getting it balanced. Be interesting to watch what you do as this moves forward.

Hi Slippo, not look at making any bonnet hinges to sell, sorry.

Few more things done, rebuilt the clutches in the diff. The bearings and back lash was fine so brought the nismo 3843S-R521 kit but should have brought the 3843S-R520 kit.

The R521 kit came with 4 spring plates, 2 spring discs 4 friction discs and 2 friction plates, this made about 130ft/lb brake away.

IMGP2591_resize_zps76a24937.jpg

I used 2 spring plates, 2 spring discs, 4 friction plates and 4 friction discs, this would be the same as the R520 kit.
IMGP2598_resize_zps5f770ead.jpg

The brake away torque to start with was 25 ft/lb and ended up with 69 ft/lb. Gave the pressure rings and the casing a polish with some fine sand paper and filed the

sharp edges, this helped the pressure ring slide smoothly.

Pressure ring before polishing.

After

IMGP2606_resize_zps52a53008.jpg

Polishing the casing where the ears run.

IMGP2605_resize_zpsb6eecffc.jpg

Made some plates to bolt to the flanges for testing and removing the stubs.

IMGP2581_resize_zpsd1a15e0b.jpg

IMGP2577_resize_zps157d6425.jpg

Put back together with a quick coat of paint.

IMGP2607_resize_zps52a0e567.jpg

Also started to de-burred the block and modified a corner on the fuel tank to give the exhaust more clearance.

Dear Mr. Dammit.
