Would have to think a 2 door would be more rigid than a 4 door as less openings where bending (seals) would occur. Hatch has mostly the same opening as the boot, be it a foot or 2 longer, but has fairly thick frame arround, where the 4 door just has parcel shelf and extra roof. Would be interesting to know the real differnces between the two.

I think I remember reading somewhere when they were testing the A9X the sedan was more rigid then the hatch but not by much.

Brought a stud welding a while ago finally got around to converting the hand piece to take pins and made up a slide hammer

from the nose of a rivet gun.

The car had been rust treated from the dealer so scraped out all the body deadener to start working on the rear quarter panels.

I’m thinking your next build, why not just make the thing from scratch? Panels, pistons, wheels - make it all. You have the skills! :-)

as per usual amazing work mate, did teched have all the torsion testing equipment at there premises and how long did the actual test take ?

not cheap is it ?

Is there only the the one torsion test or is there a second test required when the car is all back together ?

Test testing was done at Lionel West Fabrications, he has all the equipment there, it took about 6 hours to do with me helping to lift in and out all the weights.

There is only one test needed.

I have also re-add all the photos to the build thread.

I hope one day I can learn the skills to bend a length of angle like that.(The way it curves around the bottom of the door) You make it look too easy Glen.

Amazing. Glen what is your recommendation to coat between the two layers of metal when welding them together like that so the rust doesn't start again??

Brett, I usually hit the rust with a 3M strip and clean disc then use a rust converter, I use bondall Ranex rust converter from bunning.

When that dries i then spray over that with a copper base weld through primer.

Machined the face of the manifold.

Decided to cut a larger section out of the bottom of the door. Made up some dies to form the bead at the bottom of the door.

Found some rust in the door skin, this door is turning into a bigger job then I thought.

I wish someone would make some ADR compliant carbon fibre doors.

Nice work Glen, any chance of making more of the lower door section as a rust repair piece. Happy to compensate for the work involved.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, I,m not that happy with how the repair piece come out, I think I need to re-machine the dies to make

it closer to the original shape before I gave any thought about selling them.

Haven't done much more on the door, waiting for new lower half door skins to arrive.

Started cleaning up the windscreen wiper motor.

Hi there Glen it sure looks like you have a well equipped workshop,

is the Pullmax basically a power hammer that you just change the tools to either cut, shape and planish ?

Mal

It's similar to a power hammer but the tools are not made to hit each other. They can preform a heap of different operations from cutting, beading, joggling, doming, louvering and making flanges.
