Not much to report, sold the HT, scraped 2 commodores, discovered the joys of a good whiskey so currently have over one hundred different whiskeys so building a whiskey lounge.

But haven't done anything on the torana for a few months.

You and I need to talk. I have been finding special Bourbons for years, but I've never seen that one.

Ive been buying some Aussie ones.

78 degrees was quite nice.

Ned special blend was good.

Normal Ned wasnt too bad, but the special was nicer.

The Gospel isnt too bad either.

Cheers

Proper Whiskey too! Bourbon or Tennessee are my favourites as well.

Excuse my ignorance but... what was the HT? I don't remember that car. I remember the Panno  , and your sedan  , and your Skyline parts car which presumably isn't there any more because it would have been visible in that photo from memory?

I'm a bit more into black beer myself but haven't considered building a lounge for the stuff just yet hahahaha.

Who makes the corn whisky in Australia Rob? We can’t call it bourbon but it probably tastes as good.

Hi Rob, I've got those, if you get a chance try the Tasmanian Malt from the Tasmanian Spirit Company, the one in the middle.

Search for NED.

Also a Supertaxi sponsor.

78 degrees is a SA based distiller.

Very nice drop.

The Gospel is Aussie as well.

I bought one of them through Facebook then the others came up as suggested posts.

Cheers

Rob

Are they all rye? I've yet to taste one I've really liked actually. Traditional bourbon is what gets me going.

Good on ya Laurie, I'm a bourbon fan myself but only have around a dozen brands. One of my fav's is Woodford and have a Woodford reserve batch 3, and bugger its almost empty. But looking at your collection their all but empty. You must have had a few headaches emptying all of them.

Laurie, the Archie Rose, Buckley's and The Gospel are rye. You should try Angles Envy, it would have to be one of my favourites.  https://mrwest.com.a...ey-port-finish/

Yeah, Jack Daniels isn't a Bourbon, and occasionally I will dabble in the odd bit of Moonshine.

To be 100% correct, unless it is made in Kentucky it isn’t a Bourbon. JD has an extra process that makes it differ, but it’s made in Tennessee anyway. Still tastes good though. Every time we come back in from overseas I buy 4 x 1L bottles of it or Wild Turkey or Makers Mark, depending upon which is on a deal at the airport. Last 4 bottles in March last year just before borders shut.

My brother sold part of his farm here in SA recently. Some BIG prices been paid. Hope WA is the same. Can't understand the economics of it though ?

I wouldn't have sold if I weren't offered big dollars. I de-stocked most of my place in 2007 and averaged $16 per head for my sheep. I am getting $250 for them now. I have seen these great times for farmers on three occasions in my lifetime, and I know that sooner or later it will all come crashing down again. There is no use waiting to sell the farm until nobody wants one.

I understand the dilemma of farmers well.

I used to work for a couple of dairies.

They were actually quite profitable businesses until NSW deregulated the industry.

One farmer took the incentive offered to get out.

Farmers were given a "loan". If they got out of the industry it didnt have to be repaid.

If they remained, it had to be paid back.

The second farm battled it out for a while, but in the end, buying hay at 15k a month and paying 15k a quarter for irrigation power during the drought brought it down.

Developers bought his property and he leases it back running beef cattle now.

Only does that to keep his daughter in work and to have something to whinge about I reckon.

When they closed it took my best earner away from me and even I had to look at other work options.

Its a hard game no matter what the enterprise.

Cheers

Rob
