Got the rear mounts welded and the rear coilovers sorted, using R32 BC racing coilovers with R33 lower mounts.

Also started the fuel tank.

The gap between the fuel tank and subframe is where the fuel pumps and surge tank will go.

Just to get an idea, can you run an estimated hours for this. ie just add a rolling tally everytime you post.
Might give everyone an idea as to how many hours are really involved with this job. Your photos make it look to easy!

To put the rear end in the hatch i would say about 30 hours but i spent 100+ hours fitting the rear end in the yellow sedan,

trial filling the R32 and R33 rear ends. The R33 rear end does make for a good diff conversion option.

If i was to put one in another torana i would just use the original front subframe mounting point and make a bracket on the

torana subframe in front of the back wheels. Just remember doing this conversion you will need to fill in the spare wheel well in

the back floor, build a custom fuel tank, run a single exhaust and make the skyline hand brake work with the torana system.

So a minimum 130hrs to this point?....not bad.

Keep adding them hours up because understanding what is really involved with a project like this will help others before they leap!

Off-topic but I have been keeping a running total of the hours I have spent modifying my Brumby to take WRX suspension front and rear. So far I am up to 160hrs but I have found the same thing as Glen - it takes a lot of time to figure things out and try them out before you find the right way of doing it. Now that I have done one Brumby I reckon it would take me about 40hrs to do another one.

Why the single exhaust? I presume it would run beside the diiff housing in the middle, is that offset to one side a bit?

The rear sway bar has a bend in it on the passenger side to clear the exhaust, you may be able to get a custom sway bar made or not run one at all.

every time i click on this build to see your progress i am amazed at the progress and skill you have, many of us torana fans are saying ohhhhh how are you doing that, but at the same are saying, man your a legend for actually doing it. im very much hoping you finish it with the same quality as the rest of the build. if you do it will be one F*** off torana!

Ok bit of a update, ordering fuel pump and fittings before finish welding the fuel tank and converted the speedo to electronic.

A 2j would be good but i think i will stick with the RB if only to annoy bomber.

To convert the speedo i used a VDO electronic speedo.

The rod for the trip metre needs to be cut off flush with the speedo face and the small yellow button it pushes on needs two wires soldered

on the back for a remote button that will be mounted under the dash.

The plastic housing of the VDO speedo needs to be cut down to fit into the instument cluster housing. The pocket for the high beam

needs to be filled with resin to mount a smaller globe holder and needs to be ground away to clear the speedo.

Place the torana speedo face over the VDO speedo mark the two screw hole and drill. Screw the original screws into the plastic

Pulled the motor and gearbox out of the skyline and took the head off and sat it on the rb30 in the test mule.

Left the twin turbos on but will be running a single.
