Can you build me the same but with an LS9 (from the ZR1 corvette)? (no offense intended)

Saw a '67 ? El Camino at the swap meet this morning with an LS9 in it actually.....would have been a good parts car for the engine swap into a Torana

Done!

Got some more done, tacked in the rails and fitted crush tubes for the subfame adapter plates.

Made 4 bosses to fit into the original torana subframe mounting holes. These are welded into the top and bottom of the rail to help tie it together and allow for another mounting point.

Nice work I must say.
Ever thought of going Nissan 4.1ltr or 4.5ltr V8 twin turbo? Mated onto the GTR 4WD gearbox??

So do you box the outter side up once you've finished jiggering stuff? What gauge steel is that?
Posted 26 July 2013 - 06:50 PM
Jabba, the adapter plates are made from 4mm plate, there will be more bracing on the wheel side of the adapter plates when the towers are tacked in.
Bart, the problem with using any other motor is the sump and front diff are in one.

Not sure if you've seen this (you may need to be a member but well worth the read!). http://www.toymods.o...n-56k-dead.html
Its a ta22 celica with gtr front and rear suspension and a 1uz engine. He did a cut n shut on the front sump , he brought it down to the toynats in Dubbo this year, it looked like it handled fairly well.

Hopefully he doesnt mind me stealing pics, cbf hosting them myself.

Good point.
There is a VH41 All Wheel Drive version in Japan. Same engine as mine just 4wd gearbox
Keep up the great work

Welded most of the towers in. Also fitted up the front and rear suspension and sat the flairs on to see how it looks,
I think I need to find some wider front flairs.

I agree width looks OK unless you're going really low - in that case I'd tweak the flares so they are taller (i.e. the top sits higher and extends the wheel arch upward) rather than making them wider. I have less clearance than that (width-wise) on the front of mine
Posted 12 August 2013 - 09:25 AM
Plus, by the look of those images you can get more clearance witha bit of camber. The wheels appear to be straight up.

I think it needs some wheels with dish!
and having the skyrice pattern, the world of lightweight aftermarket wheels just got a whole heap bigger

I agree DISH on the rear! Front looks good. Love this project keep up the good work
