If you look up "sick" in the dictionary, this car comes up. Well it should.
Sick, sick, sick!
I would put this on the cover of Street Machine magazine. I hope you're going to have a chat to them when you're finished.

is a 88 on commodore door latch the same as torana?????
No, not even similar. All the modern stuff has those hoop latches instead of the old-fashioned striker pin like the Torana does...

...I believe they're designed so that even if you hit a power pole side-on the door lock cannot 'pull off' the end of a striker pin, it's more to do with side impact strength than keeping the door closed.
Hmm... you're gonna wish you'd found that out before paint!

that end is not the problem its the bit in the door, they probable are burst proof but aussie stuff not recognized in NZ till 1988 or after the USA stuff is about 1960 English is early 1970.
we did look at this awhile ago but now they have dates no dates a year ago they keep updating the build book i will go to a Holden wrecker tomorrow and have a look.
got it booked in for cert in about 6 weeks time.

bit of a update
well got car back from wiring two weeks ago
have had it running had couple little things wrong sorted them and took for 1st drive today just a putt up the road and back about 5 miles all went well
so next on the list is a tune next week
then carpet later in the week
week after that is in for the cert then fix what ever it fails on
the process for getting it on the road is
i had to pass a medical done
get race licence done
get car tecked for racing that's tomorrow
then send away to motor sport NZ for exzempion for having a roll cage and harness {not allowed a cage over here on the road unless a competition car}
then cert
then redgo and wof
so let the paper trail begin
did video start up but i don't know how to put up on here

Was looking almost streetable until I scrolled down to the outside shot and that is so tuff looking! Small dogs are going to need to be careful up to 10 metres away, or they will get sucked in.

so car is back from cert guy with a list to do
1 he needs to look a steering column have told him what ive done he just needs to see it
2 hat on carb too high by about 50mm
3 door locks burst proof hes happy with them just need to get letter from LVVTA for exemption
4 front shock bushes are soft so will get noelathane
5 fuel tank breather hose not long enough need to go past bottom of tank for roll over
6 rod ends on rear 4 link no branding on them will ring shop to get that
7 crack test front brake caliper mount because of welding they came with the front end heidts so should be fine
8 roll cage padding needs to be on bar across front with sun visors
9 seat bolts needs to be steel to steel no carpet in between have made some 6mm spaces
10 high stop brake light stopped working and i put it on over the tint so have to cut that back too
11 rear number light doesn't have a safety stranded
12 indcaters don't flash properly led probably go back to normal bulbs
13 fuel filler need to operate form inside car and locks on hatch
and that's about it
i'm pretty happy with the list nothing to major to fix should have it done by mid jan when he goes back to work.
we did have a dyno as well didn't go quite so well i'm happy with the power but was starting to lean out just over 5000 so didn't rev past 5400 will sort next year is going good enough for cert road test and passed
we got to 766rwhp @ 5000rpm and 8 lbs of boost on E85 so should go well .
brakes work but are heavy on the peddle so am gunna change the master cylinders to smaller piston then look at pads.
so still a few things to sort out

I find the padding on the roll cage between the sunvisors funny as if your head is hitting that part of the roll cage I think you have bigger problems than the padding.
