Was eagerly watching hoping to see some of the parade lap on TV, did not see any, did it happen?

Me too! Turned the telly on around 7.15 am, forgot about daylight saving started last night, thought I must have missed it.

Agree, it's a real bummer the parade lap was cancelled.

That sucks, I would be pi$$ed.

Sure you had a great time watching the race but to the guys that drove thousands of km's in there XU-1 for this (some 10,000 there and back), I feel for you.
V8 Supercars should be ashamed of themselves - may they never race that class at Bathurst again. Let the curse begin.

I dont why the xu1 parade was cancelled and i would be licked off to but its got nothing to do with the v8 supercars or drivers its the people in charge that are to blame as for you blokes that dont like the v8s i for one am sick about hearing you bitch about it all the time you dont like them fine but dont spoil it for other people that are into them just go and play with your toranas and stfu

end of rant

I watched them interview Tony Cochrane on the telecast yesterday & found it interesting that he's leaving the "SPORT" just as the new players are coming in to it.

Someone else can cop the flack from next year if the series turns to shite (more than it already has)

With international players in the game there'll be pressure to hold even more international races & that translates to less races here in Australia

Saw the Torana's parked in front of the Museum a few times during the telecast when the cars spun out on the last corner,

It just came down to time. Todd was advised at 8am that they were running 9 minutes behind schedule. The race must start at 10.35am so things had to get cut and we were one of them. Todd had always made it clear that there were no guarantees on the parade lap. Whilst my 12 year old son and l were disappointed that we didn't get to go around the track we had a brilliant weekend and Todd, Lucille and their team did a fantastic job and should be commended.

Awesome event - great to meet some fellow forum members & enthusiasts. Lots of fantastic cars with colours and/or trim combos I'd not seen before. Staying at Cowra with fellow XU-1 club members meant a bit of extra travel , but well worth it for the comraderie. Shame to see this thread start with a comment about those attending being elitist - I found everyone to be very welcoming, & one club even nominated a non-genuine car as their choice for a trophy. Congratulations to forum member GTR469, well done Jason.

Hi, we had a great weekend at Bathurst & met a lot of torrie owners, the cars all looked great, especially on the road.

Enjoyed the tarmac rally with Dane & Craig, sorry about missing a few turns but we got there!

I really enjoyed the drive with you guys Rick.

Was so much fun to get out with a couple if guys who drove them exactly like they should be driven.

Following Dane in his amazing XU1 on those dirt tracks almost made me cry but Dane got out of the car with a huge smile and buzzing about the experience. And the bloody thing not only looks great but goes like a rocket!!!

Very enjoyable weekend.

What a great 4 days I have just had. Bummer about the laps though.
How good was it to see so many Toranas going in every direction during the Tarmac Rally.
Managed to get a couple of war wounds on the XU-1 but well worth it.
I will still watch V8 $upercar$, but have a different view of the management.
Thanks to all HVTC members for having so much FUN!!!!!
Hope we don't have to wait another 10 years.

Thanks all

Regards
Pete

I had a great time despite missing out on the lap. Highlight for me was meeting so many other owners, making new friends and hanging out with a great bunch of people. First time to Bathurst for me, have wanted to go there since the 70's. First time I've 'shown' my car (and I use that term lightly because until recently, my car had been garaged for 17 years, so needs some cosmetic TLC, but it scrubbed up pretty good!

My 1500km round trip ended this evening when i got home, was well worth it. Huge thanks to Todd, Lucille and all those who helped behind the scenes to make the event happen. I just wish 2002 didn't turn out the way it did - I missed out due to a few things, so glad I made it for 2012.

Just got home after 12 hour trip home. Had a brilliant weekend. I also had never been to Bathurst. Took my 12 year old son, father, brother, 2 x brother in laws and mate who built car with me. We had a ball. Didn't get to catch up with as many people as l hoped. Needed another few days as there was so much to fit in with watching the race and also enjoying the company of those that came with me. Loved the event Todd and Lucille put on. Todd is a ripper bloke and very passionate. I felt more for Todd after not getting to do the lap as it certainly meant a lot to him.

Hey Craig
WOW what a rally,he,he.loved every minute of it excepted for the gravel parts, but as you said it was a buzz.grouping up with you and Pinkbits was a day to remember.Your car sounds a go's mad, just loved the sound of it.Duggo has got a great vid of you going past me at full noise.Just awsome.
Thanks again for your comments on my car,I did get a few battle scares, but have to say that its going the best its ever gone after getting the dissy tweaked.Hit 195 today and it wanted to go alot more.
But you know me I got home the sarvo and I have the engine bay half pulled apart ready to reclean.
Got a heap of pics to post in the next few days.
Cheers Dane

Much as I love Dane's car and still rate it the best one in Australia the one that grabbed my Attention all weekend was the wedge wood blue one. I'd never seen that colour before and fell in love with it. A very close second would have to be the Lone O Ranger GTR clone those crazy cats from Victoria bought up, a simply stunning car.

I think total entries stood at around 139.

BUT there were a few casualties in the week leading up to the event, so somewhere between 120-130 would be a fair estimate?

Seriously? thats all you took out of it?

I was more reffering to the fact that no one had posted anything about the event in the last couple months (seem many of us all knew about it) implying that those who knew were somehow more connected than those who didnt. it was NOT a crack comment in regards to snooty nosed XU-1 or GTR owners (which we can all say we know a couple of....)

If you took it to be the latter, well bully for you......

I heard a rumour the WA guys had an exciting lap of the track yesterday (behind the pace car and everything...) but that was only a bit of hearsay?

Thanks again to Todd, his wife, and the rest of the team and I hear his little yellow machine is taking up a place in the Museum for all to see!
