Have not had a update for a long time so time to put some pics up. Not a great deal has been done due to not having the extra money to spend on this due to work not working a great deal as the construction industry is dead down here plus my panel beater mate has just a a baby recently so he has been pre occupied! Anyways i have managed to replace the left hand sill which came out real good as im no panel beater. Also beater has been working on the mini tubs. Have removed the lips on the chassis rails to gain clearance front and rear of the chassis rails. Decided as im fitting coil overs i would shave the spring coil pockets and fill the hole in smooth where the coils use to go. Also managed to buy my wheels 15x8.5" with 3 3/8" back space and tyres are 265 50 15's. Put the rims/tyres under the car only to find that it wont go as low as i want it to go as the tyre hits on the rail at the rear. Knowing i would never be happy with the car sitting like a tractor i have spoke to my engineer and the rear rails will be getting moved inbound to gain more clearance. Have sent him a proposed way to do it but waiting on a reply which i should have this week hopefully! If we get the green light to do it the way we have suggested it should be a pretty easy job to do. Car is meant to be going to john taverna chassis' in melbourne to have the diff built and coil overs fitted at the end of this month but that may have to be rescheduled depending on how the engineer wants the rear rails narrowed due to the time factor! Also is booked in to get a a whole new front fitted (skirts and rad support) as its had a light hit in the front, will also go on the rack as it has tweaked the front rails slightly! anyways enough talk,
lh torana resto and 355 build up

Hi Ryan, do those modified rear rails clear that tyre ?
Seems strange to cut the original spring mount out and still restrict yourself with that curved rail, do you have a pic from inside the boot with that tyre in place ?
Otherwise..... it looks great !

Keep up the god work

Hey andrew , no mate rails in rear have not been moved In and yes tyre hits rear rail , did not relies it was going to be such a issue till test fitted the wheels last week! Hense why I have spoke to my engineer and will be moving the rear rail inbound, live and learn I guess mate! Was not planning on moving rails in but have no choice now and will be easier to do while the tubs are out!
OK, as you were !
Keep up the good work.

Well its been ages since a update so i better put something up! now working i wa (fifo) so got some money coming back in meaning things can move forward! while i have been away my mate has unpicked the smashed old front clip, straightened the rails and refitted a new clip, got a few spots of rust to fix on the new clip but overall the new clip is in excellent condition. Also spoke to my engine builder at horsepower engineering in qld and bottom end should be screwed together by christmas, Also has my cam specs pretty much picked out now also (will be a decent sized solid roller) in the meantime i need to order a bullet billet timing cover for it and a electric water pump so he can fit that when he screws the rest of the bottom end together. Have now decided against a rear clip at this point of time and will be just tubbed to the rail. I would really like to drive this thing next year so i have to be a bit realistic due to money constraints ect...!

wow very long time with no updates!!! Been busy with other stuff over the last 12 months with working away and trying to build a house and other stuff. Anyways the ball is rolling again and stuff is happening!! So i have narrowed the outrigger legs on the k frame for extractor clearance and have now got that blasted and in primer. Also the car is now at John taverna Chassis' (senior not the son's) where it is getting a rear chassis clip, full floater rear end with disc brakes , coils overs, full tubs, front to rear chassis connectors, aftermarket four link, fuel cell and also doing a custom front brake upgrade. Will now be running a 10" rim with a 295 tyre. Plan to have the car back in the next 2-3 months. Car will retain a back seat and will still be 100% engineered and registered in vic! anyways some pics. Car is on chassis bench awaiting the chassis rails to be finished then the cutting will begin! cheers Ryan

well its been 12 months since last post but i finally have some updates!!!!!! Fabrication of the rear clip and suspension has come along way, rear clip is in, diff has been built and chassis extenions are also in , Chassis guy hopes to have the four link installed this week. rim and tyre combo is a 10" rim with most dish given on off the shelf rims and its running a 295/50/15 tyre but is set up to run a 28" tall and 12.5" wide tyre. So far im stoked with the work that has been done (has taken longer than he said it would but its worth the wait!!) Has had a mod done on the door area which can be seen in the pic to allow more clearance to lower the ride height an extra 1" or so, no mods are needed on the doors themselves which is good! next on the list will be a new tailshaft tunnel then sheetmetal work and a fuel tank to suit. Like said im stoked with how its coming up and cant thank Adrian at John Taverna Chassis enough!!, the thing looks bad arse from all angles!!!!! New engine combo is now a 420 odd cube sbc that HPE will be building one day when its closer! anyway everyone likes pics! cheers ryan

Are many people running glides behind there engines on here? chassis bloke believes that i am better off running a glide over a turbo 400. power will be around 650-700hp and raced a fair bit!

Holy shit that looks like nice work.
No comment on the glide/T400 other than if its for mainly street use, the 'glide will frustrate you.
If mainly for the strip, go the built 'glide and huge converter I reckon.

Cars over 3000lbs need the extra gear, go the 400, I would go the 700R, the overdrive would be better on the street, there are a few places now that can make them live with big horse power.

He has built a few boxes for my brother, the latest a 400 behind a 800hp big block.
If nothing else it will be a worth while phone call with some expert opinion/advise

I ran a glide for 15 years in my big block Torana, changed to a 6 speed, best move ever! The glide was a pain only having one low gear, either wheel spin or out of power band cruising around. Fine when you were like racing it, but for a street car you need those extra gear/s. I certainly had enough torque to run around in top from a standstill, but unless you were up it in first, you were always out of the main power zone in top. Car felt like I added 200 extra horse power when I went manual!
