Screaming at 80? Try third gear :stirpot: , or change to a taller diff. Mine with a 3.55 diff is doing about 2300 at 80 in 4th. 2700ish, 100, 5th.

Cheers mick, dave the diff is meant to be a 3.55 (says on pinion plate), dad said it seemed alot quicker than 80 unless he's lossing his judgement, i never looked at the 4speeds speedo gear when i put it in all i know is its a blue one on the cable. ill go for a drive maybe tomorrow if were done buffing it and ill take the GPS with me to see if it is out.

Bonus for today is I got my plates after about an hour at the RTA trying to sort out the invoice of sale as they didnt want to accept the copy i had, lucky the fella i bought the ute off was at work  and was able to email it straight to the RTA, always knew that there were some good cops out there :)

Oh and the number plates i got from the RTA at random are BY 76 YM and its a 76 ute :) i read the plate as a 76 (built) by a Young Man, gota love having an Imagination

thanks Gene, Dave and Dave :)

had the show and shine today and i must say it looked really great parked next a mates hz sedan and a model A pickup :)

got loads of great feedback from heaps of people :)

few little things to fix, speedo temp gauge (actually hook it up) and the fuel gauge died on the way home. and ive got cronic clutch shudder if i just try to ride it to move really slow in first or reverse, so it was quiet funny driving out of the show and the whole utes shaking, but had loads of fun cruising there and back in it with the nice big pull in 3rd up one of the steep hills going to town :)

well for whats next, We just bought a 39 Chev which will be our next Rod as the bedford isn really what we want, than for me hopefully a torry :)

Shudder would have to be the clutch plate or the surfaces it runs on Danny

Great fun at the Show and Shine

That looks fantastic all assembled. You've done a great job.

If you end up pulling the clutch out, check also the spigot bushing, that it's not flogged out. That might also possibly be causing your clutch shudder.

Your ute looks ace, you've done a great job.

The side by side comparison is amazing. The HJ looks so stylish compared to the other pigs.

Put heaps of km's on it and enjoy!!

Pigs........ whales......

Maybe Holden should try naming its cars after various animal species like some of the others do.

The Holden Razorback ??? Orca ??? Humpback ???

Cheers guys, well drove to school thismorning and i didnt have a hint of clutch shudder, front of the gearbox has a slit oil leak so maybe some oil got on the plate and has now gone/burnt off.

Well found another stupid FrOcking problem, door locks dont work, locked it up, and since it started warming up i thought id go put the window down abit, but nope door locks just free spin stupid frOcking thing, spent hour and half trying the work it out with a coathanger than tryed once more and got it straight away, so since i had the sh*ts with it i kinda made a bit of a scene moving it to a safer place so i dont have any problem leaving it unlocked, so there the first thing to fix. great day always gones down hill.

Well the rod for the inside drivers door handle broke today, so i thought id better fix it and the lock aswell, the rod had only fallen out as the clip was spread apart, and the door handle rod broke the end off, so there now both fixed so i can now lock it with having some hope that ill be able to unlock it again,

passed about 4 coppers so far and not once have they even looked like pulling me up, so i must be doing something right :)

Yeah I'd be surprised if the cops gave you a hard time. I think they're more interested in dicking people in late model stuff and imports really.

you could be right mick,

well another pain in the ass problem happened today, lunch at school, so being yr12, all us boys jumped in our cars to go get lunch, and we all give them a quick squirt, well that went fine but when i did that some crap must off got under the float or the float got stuck and it was just pumping fuel straight down the guts, and as i was going up the ramp into coles the ute gave up and stopped, so not knowing what happened i get under the bonnet, while ive got the traffic blocked, and all i could see was fuel on the manifold and exhaust so i knew more fuel needs more air so just give it more throttle, well since i wasnt a happy chap at the time, the poor ute had to drive round at about 30ks in 1st in a carpark full of cars, a mate had a hammer in his car so i gave it a few hits and it stopped running out as quick, but its still not 100% so getting a carby kit tomorrow, alot of people werent happy with me at the time. all fun and games ironing out the bugs.

Danny

At least a proper old car can be fixed with a hammer! All the new crap needs a tow, and someone with a degree in electrical engineering to tell you it's out of gas!

Meh, don't worry about the grumpy people, everyone is always in a rush these days - just give them a friendly wave & wish them a nice day when they drive past   :thebird:

Your right there Dave,

Cheers Jase, i didn't wanna give myself a bad name in town after only being on the road for a few days, so there wasn't any friendly waves.

Well me and dad went to Port Maquarie Swap Meet, we took a truck load up, sold a few things and I came back with a brand new chrome air cleaner and a CAIN 2 barrel manifold

And even though my birthday was a month ago, i got a little something of a little old lady, all she said was that she knew they would fit the Ute and she knows that there worth a bit, but I've never paid you for all the things you've done so here's a set of X2 headers, i was quiet shocked, there in really good nic

Get a couple of litres of white vinegar, put the headers in a bucket with the vinegar, top up with water, leave for a day 2 & they will look brand new.
