Hi all, I would just like to clarify what the Hunter Valley Torana Club is doing with regards to Toranafest in the future.
After informal discussions with the Canberra Torana Club it was decided that we put a motion forward at our AGM in November to our members that we work with the Canberra Torana Club to hold Toranafest 2014 in Canberra.
Why are we looking to do this?
As we all agree Toranafest is getting bigger and better each year. The coordination of this takes an enourmous amount of time and effort by our members.
As President I see that Toranafest is putting too much physical, emotional and in some cases financial strain on our members to run each year.We need a breather!
So we as a committee looked at our choices and agreed to put a motion forward to our members at our AGM that we look at holding the 2014 Toranafest in Canberra and 2015 back in Newcastle.
2013 will be in Newcastle as per normal as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Toranafest.
That is where Toranafest is up to. We now have to see what our members decide at our AGM.
Just thought that you guys deserve an update on what we are planning and I hope this puts to bed some of the stories that I have been hearing.

If you have any questions please give me a call

Regards
Pete Morris

mabe all clubs need to get together and run toranafest at a diffrent state each year,,, this would make it cheaper on some owners pockets but at the same time it would get more people from each state involved in toranas.
just putting it out there.

cheers gong

My thoughts as a Queenslander

Newcastle - 10 hour drive, warm climate, established, known accomodation, known format.

Canberra - 14 hour drive (which would mean breaking it up over two days), horrible climate, unknown accomdation, unknown format. Speaking on behalf of myself and not of the club I represent I would think twice before investing two extra days and an additional 1000 kms travelling to a place I like to avoid...... but thats just me.

Well coming from an SA person, I am quite happy with the possible change in state. It makes it much easier for me to attend, and I won't have to take too much time off work to go

Considering the Summernats are held every year in Canberra, they have the capacity to accommodate everyone. I am sure there are a few places down there to hold the event.
Apart from the ACT'ers everyone has to travel as for who travels the furtherest, is that a contest?

I dont have a problem with it, in saying that I am yet to actually get to Toranafest LOL Life or work gets in the damn way!!

Alice Springs, it's central.

Honestly i can't comment cause i don't think i'll ever get there, just like Summernats it's on the wish list of places to go one year but in all honesty don't think i'll make it, at least i got to go to Bathurst in 2009.

Col Hamilton sounds good.

Your shout?

You could have it rotating say one nsw then one over the other side (wa/sa) so other people can get there.
To much dicking around though i supose.

We will be going to the GTR and XU1 Nationals in South Australia in 2014,so that will be our big event for that year, but that is just us
I hear where you are coming from with the idea of a change as it is a lot of work by every one at HVTC, but wow! it is the ideal location
on the foreshore there at Newcastle.

Way back when, the QLD Monaro club used to run Cruisetime, they roped in QLD Torana Club to help out to spread the load on the say.

Maybe other clubs might be able to chip in and help out. ?

I've gotta go with T's comment about the shitty climate in Canberra, especially in september (anyone for some late snow? lol)

I know we would only be taking one car, rather than the 2-4 that we would normally (only have one car trailer)
