Great looking event. Can't see changes for change sake being good. One day the timing might work for me but at that time of the year the fishing is very good.

Most people there are to busy talking and drooling over the cars to even register what's playing in the back ground.

The music played at Toranafest comes from the music of the era of the Torana which just happens to be 1969-80 and for me that sets the mood on the day.

Barry

Yes, most people are busy drooling over the cars and chatting but as Barry says it sets the mood of the day.

Bands people were listening to during the 1969-1980 Torana years include:

Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, The Scorpions, Def Leppard, Motorhead, KISS, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest and Deep Purple.

Many of those who bought fast cars back in those days listened to these bands.

Who didn't listen to Highway Star or Detroit Rock City as they pushing their foot to the floor? lol.

Songs thrown in sporadically throughout the show from these bands wouldn't hurt.

Might have been mentioned already but how about Stanwell Park, they hold a car show there every year, it will easily accomodate for the cars, accomodation for people can be between Sydney and Wollongong or anywhere else, and its a beautiful location, thats my 2cents, otherwise im easy.

Oh and allows for a nice cruise through the natio. YAY.

Sure is Howard. Saturday is driving events out at Queensland Raceway\Willowbank, Saturday night is party at the venue, Sunday is the Show and Shine.

Camping available at the venue or accomodation 5 mins away. Security has been organised for the Saturday night. DJ tentatively booked. Trade stall etc for the show on Sunday.

Its all coming together quite nicely :spoton:

Got my holidays approved for 2014.

Toy-202 will be there.

One thing, wouldnt it make more sense to have driving events after the show and shine???

I will be babying it on saturday to save an all night clean up, other way around i would go for broke....

Hi,

With no T/Fest in Newcastle next year, I'd be thinking  this event sounds like the go.

Are you saying it will be OK to lock up the Torana's on Sat. night and go off to a motel or whatever, as security will be on the ground all night?

Thanks

So this makes it official, no Toranafest next year

Didn't know that the HVTC had decided that yet   :dontknow:

Sorry, wont' be going to sunny Queensland, bit too far for my budget to get me there so I'll have to try and make it to Toranafest 2015 if I am still around

Pops...I don't formally speak for the HVTC, there is a great committee that does all that stuff, however I believe we have been discussing with the QTC, and from their Facebook page ....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Time to answer a few questions.

Q. This is the same weekend as ToranaFest !! Are you guys nuts?

A. Yes we are nuts, however as Toranafest 2014 is NOT being held we have taken the opportunity to fill the weekend with an event that is both... Torana orientated and closer to home. We have the support of the Hunter Valley Torana Club to run with this.

Confirmed Barry. Pete advised me before we locked in the date and announced the QTCC event.

DJ - you think too much. We figured that Saturday driving events, Saturday night gloat, party, and bench race and then Sunday recover. If we do it the other way around some folk who have a big night on Saturday would be doing track events half pissed. Which is probably not a good idea :D

If all goes to plan we will having a drag event as well as a cruise (happy laps) around QR so there should be something that suits everyone.

Good luck with it Big T, I'm sure it will be a great success but as I said before, the extra travel will put it out of reach of my budget which basically is entrant fee, accommodation for 3 days, Sat night dinner, food/drink and about a 6-7hr drive away.

With out going into detail, I usually just get enough $$$$$$$'s to do Toranafest each year.

I didn't know that the Fest had officially gone biennial but it was certainly heading that way by what had been previously said on the forums.

AND a well deserved rest :clappin:

My wife is the coordinator of our Fathers Day Swap here in Coota and with 220 sites last year and 163 already booked for this September, I can understand how much it takes to put on an event.

She was the coordinator for our biennial rally here back in 2007 with 114 cars attending and that was stressful at times so multiply that by 3 gives us here a good insight on how much goes into Toranafest.

Even with Bev going to Q'land next year, my budget does not go that far up the coast
