Hey ppl, just bought an autometer trans temp guage and was wanting to know where it is I am supposed to screw it into the gearbox. It just has a little sensor with a screw fitting and I didn't know if I was to take something out to put this in or what. Also which way have ppl run this thermostat, out through the firewal and to the box from the bay or down under the carpet and through the tunnel?

Cheers,

Liam.

From what ive read in my turbo 350 performance handbook, you need to install it on the return line from the trans cooler, so you will need to do some sort of inline connection. B)

Fit a "T" piece to the return side from the trans cooler.

I usually fit them in the sump (pan). Some pans have a drain plug and the Autometer fitting screws straight in. Some you have to braze a fitting into. I wouldn't fit a restriction into my oil cooler return, ( it returns to the pan anyway)but thats just me.

Thanks guys for that, thats interesting. I'll try putting it in the sump plug hole first beause that is just easier and if that doesn't work I'll fit it inline the trans cooler as suggested.

Thanks for the help,

Peace.
