Probably not as much as you obviously seem to, i'm just a dumb-ass blue collar worker. But i assume goverment is run along similar lines to almost any buisness, something i have been fortunate enough to have been educated in during the course of past employment, including the cost down to the last dollar in actually running that particular buisness on a daily basis. One thing i learned was we didn't try to shaft our customers to bost profits, that isn't good for buisness, we looked at other avenues open to us such as saving on operating costs by better management of consumables etc.Do you understand how governments budget? If revenue from one stream dries up they source that revenue from elsewhere or reduce services in some areas. If there proves to be too many law abiding citizens not racking up speeding and hooning fines, then the revenue will be sought from somewhere else, perhaps more tax on some consumer goods, petrol etc, or at the federal level more business and personal income tax.
One thing you can bet on, their salaries and retirement benefits will be maintained regardless of who is in power.
Qld anti hoon laws to be reviewed

Comments from the same article are the usual hoo haa however this comment was interesting and if true is a worry as it pretty much highlights what sort of authorities we may potentially deal with.

My son has a nice normal car, nothing extravagant and he was sitting at stop sign and watched a policeman do a u turn on a zebra crossing outside a school during school hours. As my son drove through the stop sign the policeman pulled him over and asked my son " why he was looking at him funny " my son said " I guess it was the u turn on the zebra crossing with the school kids around ". The policeman's response " I'm in the cando car I can do anything ". He went over my sons car with a fine tooth comb and lucky for my son found nothing, don't tell me that wasn't targeting!"

No, there is a fundamental difference. When a private business enjoys profit, that profit is returned to shareholders and/or paid in bonuses to those that run the company. If a government returns a surplus then that is put back into paying debt, or back into services , it isnt divvied up amongst the politicians. They get the same regardless of surplus or deficit.
Can we have an end to this nonsense about pollies inventing hooning fines to pay for their retirements?

We may break the speed limit a bit more than older people but if you didn't when you were younger you obviously had a shit life as a kid. Don't start blaming things on us when you did the same.
I would say if elder people resat the driving test, written and in car you would fail it, a lot has changed since you got your drivers license.
thanks.

How, wisend sir, do you explain gillard upping her yearly salary by more than the average australians total income, after just bringing in a new tax, and just after her previous partner in crime put the country into a massive debt?
Cheers.

I like this one to.
"The people get the government they deserve.
The usual pathetic unthinking 'get tough on' (every damn thing) that the moronic government continues from the Bligh nightmare indicates the above statement is well and truly right.
Pathetic unthinking government for pathetic unthinking sheeple.
Have you ever thought of looking at causes instead of symptoms??
Of course not.
One day somebody may see the link between the nanny state and the depression that sees suicides rising all the time and half the population being on some sort of happy pills.
From Noosa to the border is one long stretch of zombies, being treated like zombies and now so zombified that to not 'do exactly as instructed' makes you a hoon, a danger and deserving of the 'full strength' of moronic laws.
Just like most posters here want it, apparently.
You make me quite ill! No doubt reciprocated, but I'm real glad I'm not like you, sheeple.
The road carnage is a myth. Mile for mile the road toll's never been lower. Accept that life has risks and stop making outlaws out of essentially innocent people.
Outlaws will bite back!!!"
But your right, a lot of frOcking stupid comments in there

so you have the proof in your own words, the country is in debt and the politicians award themselves a pay rise, there is no link between politicans pay and whether the country is in surplus or debt.

It seems common knowledge the PM awarded herself a payrise and the country is in debt?
another own goal?
here's how politicans get themselves payrises:http://www.smh.com.a...1215-1ovvs.html, its irrelevant to them whether there is a surplus or debt.

whether you or I think their pay rise is justified or not is irrelevant to the ridiculous claim that the hoon laws, carbon tax, teeny pop tax(whatever else you dont like) were brought into specifically to pay for them. Respond to your previous statements? I have, but it seems you are hell bent on the conspiracy theories, perhaps we can chat about whether there was a moon landing as well

, regarding no car ever being fitted with a factory rollcage
the suspense is killing me, please tell which car was manufactured here with a roll cage. Are you also going to tell me it is now illegal to drive it on NSW roads or in which ever state has banned them for road use?

There have been a few, AFAIK all are still legal for road use in all states. Nissan GTIR is a prime example.
That is irrelevant, the point is you stated that NO CAR WAS EVER MANUFACTURED WITH A ROLL CAGE. This was incorrect. This means your not always right.
Cheers.
