Basically, from what i gather, and generalizing a bit.
Drag racing, excluding jzed or duggan, you want a 9 port.
Hot street/drag you want a 12 port
Mild street you want a 12 port
Ford heads if you are handy with a mill and a lathe and feel like a frOck around.
Cheers

he did say he wanted the best head....
i would never use one again on an aspirated deal, if it had 20 psi in it that would be a different story.

no idea this was on a drag race eng but they are all the yt alloy's are open chamber.
After it was ported, chambers welded, hardened seats and guides replaced, machined and filled with good stuff the jzed looks real cost effective.

Best budget head would be blue hi-comp bolt on.
IMHO
- best budget head. Black EFI.
- best base for moderate engine. Small chamber 12 port (or blue high comp as Rodomo calls it)
- best all out max hp is probably JZED, but I've not had anything to do with one.

Yep i agree ,a max effort alloy 12 port will cost at least 4 grand without rockers, getting close to JZ cost.no idea this was on a drag race eng but they are all the yt alloy's are open chamber.

That's what i thinking too bomber, i'm an aspirated fan, don't know what it'd be like without a turbo. Did oldjohno ever get his done or further along.
Still not finished. Building a couple of 12 port manifolds at the moment, once they're out of the way I'll try to get the other engine finished.

Heres a thought... 9 port 173, VN valves and springs, good port job (I just bought a die grinder with steel and alloy bits) screw in studs, 1.6 roller rockers, bigger cam than I already have. Mmmmmm, grunt anyone???
Sounds like a good way to make very little HP.
Quick six, yeah mines mostly a joke and something to frOck around with when im bored, havnt actually done anything yet, nor do i have a car to put it in lol.
Kev, interested?
