Back in the day. Lots of XU1 owners pulled there JP engines out and built other engines with the same numbers So they didn't blow up the original engine. there is still lots of guys doing this. Maybe this is what has happened in this case.????

Why is it dodgie skap? Like phil said... if its done with stamps that are clearly not gmh then i can't see a problem. This case could be different if they are genuine gmh stamps.

it is dodgie because you are restamping an engine number....
who gives a crap what type of stamps they use.
how many xu-1's have you looked at and the owner tells you its the original engine.. yet you look at the number and see it clearly isn't ?
if the people who do this grind that number off when or if they get rid of it... whatever, but might be half the reason there are so many restamps around nowadays ?

Seriously ............. Fuk here we go.... this thread wont last long ..
I can totally understand anyone removing their JP motor, and replacing it with a worked but common 202 motor, nothing unusual about that..... But why would you need to give that engine a different number ?? To build another motor, then grind it;s engine number off, and replace it with a JP number would be illegal on a registered car.... And the only reason it would be done for, is for dodgy reasons ... But I'm sure your aware of that...
Or is there another reason for duplicating engine numbers ... ???
