Always best with a relay.
You should be able to pick up an ignition power source easy enough around the fuse box.

There is a thick pink wire that runs from the ignition switch to the fuse box, it is onl active when the ig is in the on position. The value in using this wire it is switched out when the ig switch is turned to start. This is by design so as to switch out all unnecessary electrical loads when using the starter.

I suggest that you run a tachiometric or vac relay, they sense when the engine is running so your pump will only run when it is needed.

If you have a need to run the pump while the engine is stopped then an overide switch can be wired in parallel direct from the battery.
