This will bolt straight in, no grinding, and do the job no worries.

Mechanical Pumps work well with SU's, if running a Holley Electric Pump you are definately going to need to run the regulator with it, as SU's have a real habit of spewing fuel out of the float bowls with any more than about 5psi of fuel pressure..........less is best in this case.

Ok now that makes sense. Does a commodore fuel pump provide too little fuel pressure?

The blue/black motor pumps supply enough fuel to keep up with a tough Holden 6. Unless you're going to use N2O or methanol I wouldn't use an electric pump.

In that case is it even worth upgrading the mechanical pump?

I only change to an electric pump when the mechanical one failed, which was well used when I fitted it to the engine in1999. It also run the car to the mid 13sec over the 1/4 mile. Holden fitted mechanical pumps to XU-1s as std, do I need to say any more? If you need to buy a pump, the Chev pump option is good value for similar money.

I still run a standard mechanical pump (with holley low psi regulator) on my LJ (webers)

Ran a similar setup with my SU's (pusha nd turn reg on that one... not a fan now days though)

Ok i see, what is the theory behind running a reg on a standard mech pump? Is it a precaution or does the pump put out more than is required?

I use the std glass bowl pump on my triple SU fed 202. Never had a problem with low fuel or too much fuel.

too much pressure will overwhelm the needle and seat, and in SUs can make the AFRS all over the shop.
