I hope the Territory drive feels the full extent of the law and are made aware that if it had happened a little bit earlier he could be facing manslaughter charges, maybe next time he/she will think twice before they pick up the phone whilst driving.

With ticket entry at $80 each PLUS another TENNER for parking, I am surprised people had any $$$$ left over for over priced booze.
Kept to the water all day in forty plus heat and was better for it.
I concur with others, make it an alcohol free zone.

Its much the same as it ever was. The crowd is a good reflective cross section of the modified car culture. Lots of mature blokes (and a few gals) with big dollar cars and lots of wanna be young blokes. Like it or not they are part of our crowd. With any luck some will grow up eventually.
The trouble is pretty easy to see coming. I dont go to the drinking tents and try to clear out by feral time which is about 7pm, particularly on the saturday.
I have never been a victim of violence, theft or damage. I feel safer walking around there than a few places in melbourne.
Its an awesome event without equal in the country and possibly world.
Where else can you stand by the side of the road while race cars, blown monsters and more just idle past, hopefully giving it a bit of a blat as they pass. Everyone I met was friendly and polite. Most owners love chatting about their pride and joy.
As usual I had tears in my eyes within minutes of walking in on friday. Only some were from the methanol and tyre smoke!
LONG LIVE THE SUMMERNATS

Thanks for clearing that up. Im happy to admit that I didnt see any of those things unfold 1st hand.
The only incident that I saw first hand involving the girls, was from a group of young boys approx 16yrs old constantly grabbing girls breasts as they drove past sitting in the back of vehicles. This was taking place across the road from me but was in front of a security guard who was more concerned with drivers doing little skids. One girl was nearly toppled out the back and off the tailgate of a ute as she was grabbed.
Ive searched for the video footage of the all in brawl that erupted after the parking attendant got hit, its been taken down from fb. It also showed a few guys stealing merchandise from an exhibitor stand as the crowd went past.
I was there from 9-3 Fri/Sat and till lunch on Sun. Id say after about lunch time the crowds were getting pretty rowdy, girls being yelled at and called c*nts for not showing there breasts. I would hate to see how things panned out as night time fell.
Yes its easy to say, "if you dont like what goes on, then dont go"... well this trip was a surprise xmas present from my mrs, and to be honest I didnt have any idea it was anything like what I saw. So now I know what goes on, I wont go anymore. It was an experience that I can say I was a part of.
this video?
https://www.facebook...152380539605587
It looks like most of the guys were actually picking up the stuff and putting it back on the counter? There was one idiot in a hat that picked up a shirt and was waving it around, looks like his mates then told him to drop them, and picked them back up.
I'm just confused about who they are chasing in the video (I know that it was the dude that hit the girl, but which one is he, all seems a bit chaotic)
Security are often hesitant to do anything about things like groping, especially when its a big group. The possibility of a large crowd backlash is too high.
I dont see why the cops cant be out in force like they are for Bathurst these days. (not to the same level, but surely something?)
How about they build a burnout car in the same way the army have? big police contigent present on the day for crowd behaviour (no say in cars cruising, doing burnouts etc etc, thats the security's job)
Riot squad on standby for larger groups that get rowdy, police HQ can even be setup in one of the pavillions that are unused.
Anyway, I'm sure there are a million things that can be done better, but at the end of the day, it is what it is and remains one of the only events of its kind around

The first altercation was when the crowd started saying 'white top, white top' to a well endowed blonde... She didnt want to and the crowd kept egging her on. Then a larger woman (Who was later king hit). Started having a go at the blonde, calling her a 'slut, scrag' etc etc... The blond took offence to this and they hurled abuse at each other for a bit... Both of them wanting to go each other and people having to pull them apart... This went on for a few minutes... Before two big blokes pulled the blonde girl away out of site...
The large woman then thought she was king shit, as the crowd cheered her on, she soaked it up and kept yelling out to the other girl, egging them on and having a go at the girl, and the two lebo blokes that hauled her away.. The blonde tried to run back once or twice but was pulled away... At this point I was thinking good on the lebo's for difussing the situation and just walking away...
Anyway, about 5 minutes passed, and everyone had gone back to watching the cars cruise past... I was still standing in the same spot and noticed the big 'juiced up lebo' (Orange & White stiped singlet) pushing his way through the crowd from side where the large girl was sitting on the concrete bollard. He ran up over the past few metres and king hit her off the bollard and back onto the concrete. She had no idea that the guy was even coming at her. He then went to have a kick at her on the ground (Where it looked like she was unconcious) before the crowd and security started to surge on him.. The hero started throwing punches at the security gaurds coming at him, the security numbers went from about 4 to 12 in about 15 seconds and the guy started backing up asking for them to 'have a go'. By now most of the crowd had caught onto what was happening, and the bloke and his mate decided to run for it... 20 odd security gaurds, and a few hundred people chased the bloke up the road...
That is exactly what I saw... I'm not going to speculate on what happened next, becuase I didnt witness anything else.
From here, Ryan's Missus went and helped the girl that had been knocked out, and she was brought over to our club marquee where she was given initial first aid.
This is where I would like to have a rant... Security should have called an ambulance for the girl as soon she was hit.. It was about at hour before the ambulance arrived, the girl had been passing in and out of conciousness. Their efforts here were pretty piss poor if you ask me... This girl could have had life-threatening injuries... It was left to us to organise for an ambulance to come down (Which was located down at the main entrance, about 300 metres away!).
Now my version of events is not here say or chinese whispers! This is exactly how it happened in front of me... from literally the other side of the road.
Now, on Summernats... It wasnt as good as last year for me... Whether that was because of the weather, or because security tried too hard to stop cars from cruising tuff street... Only problem with this though, is that instead of having little pockets of people all around the track, all of them congregated to the area behind the grand stand... The way they had the concrete barriers set up (Pretty much lining all of tough street). Meant that the crowds all gathered near a couple of openings... Last year it was all open and the crowds spread out much better.
I didnt see, or hear about this thing with the Sidchrome Girls... I would honestly say its a case of Chinese Whispers... No doubt something happened (Water thrown on the girls, and probably loads abuse, and a few dickheads reaching for a grope). I doubt they were ripped out of the car and stripped naked... Word would have travelled pretty fast around the venue... We first heard about it on facebook, but people who didnt even attend the event...
Anyway, Summernats is still a great fun event... I noticed that this year they had more restrictions on the selling of alcohol... Mid strength drinks till 1pm and drink limits.
I plan on heading up again next year with the club, lets hope its not 40c next time! That was the really shit bit!

???? If there were then ford (+ who ever has worked on the terr)would have a little explaining to do.....
Trailer with ride-on mower doesn't have ABS and also factor in how high up he hit the VL and the damage.
TG no one was seriously hurt although whiplash injuries could appear in a few days after the hit up the bum by a piece of Ffffford crap.

I've been hearing stories like this since the event started. I wont stand back & watch some idiot trash my car regardless of how big a group he is in, so it is best if i don't attend.
So i'm curious. Could they make it a booze free event before 7pm? Could they cease vehicular movement at 7pm & ban/remove any offenders? If you want to camp there, sweet! You can get on the turps AFTER the daytrippers have left. Just a thought.

I would suggest seeing it's only a box trailer that it doesn't have brakes at all. Theres no requirememnt to have brakes unless a trailers all up weight is 750kg or over.Trailer with ride-on mower doesn't have ABS and also factor in how high up he hit the VL and the damage.

well said matt but you left out the part where davo seized the opportunity of no secrutiy guards and in his ninja like style smoked out tuff street to return and bask in the smoke with car hidden away hahaLet me tell the story... I watched the whole thing from about 10m away (Next to Ryan).
The first altercation was when the crowd started saying 'white top, white top' to a well endowed blonde... She didnt want to and the crowd kept egging her on. Me doing a tongue in cheek remark about the weight of the trailer and ride-on adding to the push on the ABS car

I've never been to a summernats and would love to one day but can i say that when i was living in Perth and went to powercruise it was a grog free event and i thought it was great. felt safe leaving my car in the show and shine area allowing me to walk around and have a look and not stay with my car the whole 3 days. There was a few people who snuck in piss and they stood out like dogs gonads. i had a great time and pretty certain most people there did without having a drink. i love a cold beer on a hot day just like most, but when there is cars worth that mush $$ getting round you dont need fr0ckwits rouining your experience.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I want the police to "Spoil the Party" so to speak; I'm just genuinely asking the question because I don't know the answer.

I remember years, and years, and years ago (maybe 1995, Summernats 9?) when taking my Torana there, the police were pulling people over on Tuff Street for RBT's.
