This is why I won't be taking My car there unless the sort this shit out.I'm all for crowds giving encouragement haha but this close and no respect to move ! More barriers but I'm
Not going to cop beer or scratching for someone's else's fun on a car which cost big $$$$$
Some these fellas now likely live at. Home with parents and only own the cloths on there backs. Shit set up for cruise if this is what it's like. 10 years ago it started to go up to shit

Avoid the area, it really is that simple. Dont go to the problem areas namely Tuff St, you will find that a lot of people dont cruise in the arvo/nights, just watch with their car safely parked elsewhere or leave the Nats and head to Lonsdale Street LOL

I live in Newcastle, I've had an XU-1 for 24 years, I've been to Torana Fest once, Summernats twice, I would'nt take my car to either. well I would drive to Torana Fest, but I'd be frOcked if i'd sit there all day.... Torana Fest is boring and has nice cars, Summernats is anything but boring and has nice cars..... the choice is yours to go or not...... Everthing that goes on there has been going on for ages, most if not everyone knows what to expect long before they've been to the Nats. Anyway you think the Summernats are bad, you should see our local Pub on a Friday Arvo..... Burnouts, Bikies, Lingerie Waitreses, Yobbos, Oh and Alcohol.... and it's best and friendliest Pub around.......... You'l never ever know if you never ever go.... , have fun before they Ban it or Tax it...

What pub is that? I want to go the next time I'm in newie.

Cheers John.

Cheers John .... It's Catho Pub at Catherine Hill Bay, its a great pub, it can look a bit intimadating at times(30-40 Harleys always out front) but has a real friendly feel, heaps of families and sydney tourists.. There's Live Bands every Saturday & Sunday arvo's. lots of stuff that goes on there is risky at best with Dirt bikes and Road bikes doing wheel stands past the pub, and you can see how slippery the road is out the front........ BUT there has never been a serious incident there, and the cops leave us alone, they odviously will book you if they catch you doing it.... As i said I have been going to this pub for over 25 years and have never seen a serious accident, but in that same time there has been at least 18-20 people killed Rock Fishing in the same area........... Go Figure.................

I like the sound of the pub! But you comparison Ian, is just dumb! Rock fishing is hard to protect people from, its mother nature...... Losing it and killing someone is completely preventable, well almost.

In the burn out area its only your own life your risking, doing a "controlled" burnout with people within inches, hell metres even, of your car is idiocy, no matter how good you think you are!

Im no fuddy duddy, but if all you supporters cant even see the potential danger, you are all as stupid as each other.....yes its fun, yeah, stay away, yeah youre summernats burn out king, blah blah.... If ya cant see it you should chuck some crayons in ya back pack and head back to kindy.

Motorsport is dangerous guys, any form, if you cant accept that, well thats your issue. I accept that shit can go wrong at summernats, karlie accepts it, id be devastated and angry as hell if something went bad, but at the end of the day, the same thing applkes at the speedway when we race, or moreso when she crosses the road with dangerous drivers in tje city, and they arent doing burnouts...

Government keeps telling me that 'Speed Kills'...

The cars on the Summernats Cruise route wouldn't clock more than 30km/h on a radar gun... That's slow enough for a school zone!!!! Maybe we just need some lollipop ladies around the track to help all the drunks cross the road? LOL

P.S. I love how Skap can never add anything worthwhile... He just reverts to name calling, or useless posts! Come on mate, write something worth reading!

I wasn't making a comparison sport, I was stating a fact.... but i see throughout your comments that facts don't matter to you.. you just want to be right.. fine youe right .... but I watch the news most nights, and while there are plenty of stories about hoons doing burnouts i'm still yet to see a story where someone has been injured let alone killed..... yet fishing Rock fishing in particular kills plenty.. at Catho 5 members of one family died through stupidity..... you seem to know every thing why dont you give some Data to back up your claims on just how dangerous doing burnouts are..... sure doing burnouts has risks, so does not paying attension, texting while driving, drinking hot frOcking coffee.... the list goes on... so please show something to back your fears up other than your opinion, because you know what they say.... everyone has one....

You guys need to learn to read and stop stating the obvious.

Yes the following are dangerous:

- drinking in a pub full of bikies.
- skydiving,
- walking across the road.
- taking a shower.
- swimming at the beach.
- catching a bus.

frOck i could go on forever....

BUT

None of those take place in a controlled environment where security is on standby, the event organisers should have complete control of the environment.....but they dont.!

Nor do they seem to care as long as they sell 6000 drinks per day they turn a profit.

I also accept that some people going expect to see dangerous behavior, if that is the majorities opinion, the advertise it accordingly.... "Drunk dick head nats".

That does not excuse the fact that some peoplemay take their missus or kids there expecting something different, they should not be exposed to the same dangers that stupid people expect?

Every year Iv been I have stayed away from Tuff Street. Too crowded for one reason, but another is Ill stand further up the cruise route, and watch the cars idle past. Cars dont look better doing a burnout, and I can stand on the side of the road not surrounded by people and enjoy these monsters cruising.

And I'm pretty sure Gary Myers recently put his mustang into the fence up in NQ. Yes he was going a bit faster than those on the cruise route, but even the best of them cant control the cars they have been driving for 30 years.

In saying that, Ill most likely be there next year lol

There are like 5 people here who are sooking about what goes on at Summernats and the rest either enjoy it, or just dont give a shit!

The examples people have put up of 'burnouts gone wrong' are high speed burnouts (The Drag racing one in the USA, and the ute rolling over doing on a burnout pad doing a high-speed spin.

I'm not condoning burnouts on the street, where unsuspecting people have no idea whats going on... Im just saying that skids on Tuff St at Summernats really do no harm to the people present.. The only people who get wound up about them are people on internet forums who have never been!

Also... I'm not planning on taking my car any time soon, and if I ever do.. I wouldnt be driving it down tuff street on the Saturday evening! I dont like people touching my car... But others dont seem to mind and are happy to drive their cars down there! Probably much the same as the attention seeking girls who go around and around and around all day long in the back of utes getting hassled to get their cans out...
