Hi all. I am wanting to fit a cowl to the bonnet of my uc, but have to strengthen it around the cut. I was wondering if anyone could post some pics of how theirs was done and what material they used for the process. Thanks in advance.
Bonnet strength to fit cowl?

hmmm... why do you have to strengthen ?
Is the UC bonnet alot different underneath than an LX one
Litre8 doesn't seem to have any extras.. .and its actually a larger hole than normal
Check this thread too

hey hey hey lay off on the shit part....
Yes UC is different to other boxy toranas, as i have noticed.
Personally if i was to do the job i would do it one of two ways.
A: cut the hole as required, then run some 20x3mm flat bar around it at a 90, fully welding it. I would have the bonnet off and supported so i can do verti downs most the way.
B: Mark the hole in the bonnet, then mark in 20mm all the way around the hole, and cut there. Then leave the straight sections, and cut the curved bits every 40mm or so. Then bend these down using hammer and dolly to a 90 degree angle and weld the joins back up....
Either way should impose sufficient strength back into the panel.
But that said i only play with holden sixes so have no need to gut ghastly holes in my bonnet for any filthy bent eight.

I just cut the bonnet support out of mine, didn't have to touch the top skin. Just going to weld in sum 1.2mm to make it look less like there's a big hole

Thanks guys for your help. I will take some pics of he inside of the bonnet to put up in this post tomorrow, but i think i will use hayden's idea of only cutting and moving the supports without putting on the cowl. At least that way the body can original
