Hi All,
Need help to find out the name of the truck like stack muffler that you run along the sills from the front door on the Lc/Lj Torana 2 door, as a mate had them in the 80's.
They looked cool with the chrome heat shield and finished in front of the back wheel. Dave I

why are they illegal.

The exhaust needs to exit 400mm(from memory) past the last opening, which on a 2 door is behind the diff.

Hi warrenm,
Thank's for that - A friend of mine say's it is 650mm behind the last window, and he also said you can get an open permit for lakepipes.
So if we put the exhaust output facing in, run an extension up over the diff and back down behind the rear wheel, we could be in business. Dave I

p.s. the sills are removed and replaced with a con-caved piece so the Lakepipe sits snug.

Wot is correct, the other pic isn't Lakes pipes.
They look better if they come outside the body with perforated guards over the top.
Run the outlets like Wot's pic with blanking plates either on the outside or behind a bolt tail-piece(that cannot go outside the line of the guard.
Then have another outlet on the inside of the pipe running under the car and dumping over the diff.

Then you've got all the looks of the Lakes pipes, and you can uncap them and drop the dump pipes at events/shows......

Great posts and we can incorporate ideas.
I did ask for the name of the Truck like Mufflers with guards which Corvettes have them on, so what are they called? DJ said side-pipes.
The Picture that BAD UC put up, is more like the type that I am looking at only with perforated guards. Dave I

Ive always known them as sidepipes.

Love them on 80s panelvans,but not on much else.
