There is a reason that the manufacturer usually doesn't put values on the temp guage display. It can all be correct from new, but the semiconductor material in the sensor is not for ever and hence the readings can vary a little and then create needless warranty claims that the sensor isn't working, motor is overheating etc.
As you have found out the same things affect aftermarket gauges too!
As I outlined here:
http://www.gmh-toran...try723742,(post #187) if you have a way of measuring the temp of your motor accurately you can take note of what the Ir says and mentally associate that temp with a position on the gauge, and/ or put some markers at 10c intervals.......just iike you'd do when comparing a speedo with GPS readings for particular speeds
If its only about not seeing the numbers on your aftermarket gauge being wrong, why not just ditch it all together and just rely on the standard dash gauge with the method suggested, it will be just as consistent as an aftermarket unit.
