Yep, Marty you are now suffering what they call

" post traumatic badge drilling stage fright"  or PTBDSF for short.

It    happens to most people trying to re locate the correct boot badge GTR location . I went through the same thing, I'm in recovering through !!

the therapist says " just dont look at the badge too much" , just walk past and "don't look down" , Its work in progress but i'm recovering .

Mate, you will not notice it once you are driving that car, although Gene will point it out every time.

looks fine to be, just elongate the hole a bit,  put a bit of bog over the hole ,, re drill in the correct position then you will have the correct hole.

Just drill the hole a bit bigger as when it's painted you don't want to file through the paint if the holes are tight on the spigot  with paint.

go bro go

Thanks Grant, my heart sank when I read John Gong's post.  It's a big thing getting it right.  I'll have another go at it tonight. I was going to weld hole and re-drill but your idea sounds better. Also I'll make the holes a bit bigger to allow for paint.

The badge comes with speed nuts and spigots, I suppose you use one or the other, nuts sound better for taking badge on and off, say when polishing, but spigots are factory look.

As much as it hurt, thanks John and Adam for pointing out the crooked badge.

Perth in a Heat wave at the moment, looks like Monday is a good day to do more Hi-fill.

Marty

Martin you should make a template for the badge so the next person can get it correct straight up.

Yeah it's been a brain strain. I'll update my other thread on badge position and hopefully make it fool proof.

Call it a GTR Badge Drilling Jig Marty,

Place the Jig on corner of Boot Lid and clamp, then drill the holes through the hardened guide bushes. Dave I

Penned on the silver lines.
ujadahu4.jpg
Acrylic primed last week and have been rubbing it back.
Still finding the odd dent. Too shallow to bog so they get high filled. I've used a different colour so the viewers at home can see.
gapytadu.jpg
Any holes or scratches get sprayed and rubbed back.
2a6u8aga.jpg
Also have to re-prime edges where I rubbed through.
judejery.jpg
Tomorrow is final rub then high pressure clean room and hopefully Sunday morning the car will be white.

I'm really happy with how the body is looking, every layer of paint it just gets smoother and more betterer.

Using acrylic is a dream. Flows smoother, dries in a flash so you can sand and move on real quick. Left over paint can be kept too.

Hi Craig, this is not a genuine GTR like yours so the flares will be left
