Yep its the fuel tank. I have the plans somewhere for the stands they went out to all Design and Technology Departments in WA early 80s so the D& T teachers could fabricate them. We generally don't use the tanks though as over time they get too much crud in them. Instead we mount an old fuel tank of a stationary engine to one side.

Cleared under bonnet and boot. Masked out sound deadner so it isn't glossy.

Chose a different setting on the phone to get colour closer to how it looks.

Thanks Dave, Maz and Jeff.
Got the first round of colour on the body. One light coat, then medium followed by a wet one.
Really happy with result. I'll give it a rub down on the week end and another three coats next week.

Thanks John & Danny.
Took the car outside and rubbed it all back. I was trying to reuse masking but no chance.
Also had left some tape on too long so that was a pain to get off.
Started re masking ready for next session.
When I run water over the panels it gives me an idea of how it'll look polished. Nice.

Masking is done!
Not sure how long you guys take but this took me over 4 hours. I do tend to stop and admire the car quite often though.

Very nice indeed... It's a credit to your hard work.

I buy the expensive masking tape now, it peels off cleanly days later and you get very crisp lines.

Cheers boys.
Davis, that tape would of been on for a month with some days in the sun. Tape costs about $6 for 2 inch roll. Don't know if that's cheap? Ta

Marty, I'm not surprised it took you 4 hrs to mask all that. Great attention to detail though, no paint going where it isn't wanted.

Can't wait to see the next coats on.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Dave.
