Got the second round of coats on today. Had my painter friend drop by for advice and a look at progress. It's very satisfying when he his saying how straight and smooth I've got it.
Also gave me a set of tail light surrounds in excellent condition.
A great day all round.

Rubbed the car down on Saturday and just got some more paint on. I've made the decision to clear the paint. This has not been an easy choice and I'm going against many advisers on the forum. We will now wait and see if this is the right choice for me.
I have applied two coats of 50/50 clear colour. Then 3 coats of clear. It will then be rubbed back and a final 5 coats of clear.

Hi Dave, yeah it was a big crowd there. Wish I had more time to chat. Lost my misses in the crowd and when I found her she was dark and I had to kick into damage control.

She looks brilliant Mate.
I read it took you 4 hours to mask the car.
Bloody hell mate you have more patients than me.
I could never be a painter. I am one of those guys that always wants to touch it
to see if it is dry and ends up with a finger print in it. I am hopeless.
credit to you mate.

Got the two coats of 50/50 on followed by three coats of clear. Rubbed it all back today and must say rubbing clear is better than colour. Less mess plus your left with a uniform finish.
Also got the doors and boot on. Any advice on this issue appreciated. Drivers door closes fine but passenger door needs a bit of force. The spring on passenger door stretches more causing the door pressure. Both door straps exactly the same. Springs just bought from parts boner, Pics below
This shows doors shut, there is a different distance between roller and first notch between doors. Not sure why.
Here's some rubbing pics.
Just had to put the badge on, make sure it's still in position.
Now boot's on, I'll do a bit of patch painting where scratched while fitting. Then fit the zinced bolts.
Cheers
Marty
