that's a ridiculous shine on them wheels marty, now Look when you get them on the car, park it in the garage and don't drive it, it will preserve the shine.

Wheels look great Marty.
Are you going to clear coat them to lock that shine in?
Cheers Graham .
Hi Graham, plan is to leave them as is and polish them every week. :-) I'd always worry about a laquer peeling.

Yeah, you need your sunnies for these babies. That's my thoughts, park it and don't drive it to keep shiny wheels.
Well done Marty. Praise from Gene is frOcken rare
Hi Adam, Cheers, it did cost me a couple of cartons of PP
Hi Marty,
Those wheels look so shiney, and done so well.
And the bits and pieces from the platers look great,
Will look very smick, when all of them are back in place.
So is it rolling now?Must be happy with the progress !!!
Regards John.
Hi John, She's not rolling yet, maybe another 4 weeks????

Hi Greg, Hope your happy on Wednesday, let me know. Tyres came on the car, they are almost unused. 225/60 for rear and 205/60 fronts. At the moment they are being preserved.

Hi all, a week of fiddly bits.
Drivers door opener has a broken spring so I've started playing with welding rods to make a new one.
That was my first attempt which needs modifying I feel I'll get something to work.
Stripped the Fusebox and cleaned up the connections. I'm looking into making some decals to redo the wording for fuses.
Cut out my door tops etc. Used an iron on new material to reduce wrinkles from being folded and creased.
Used the originals as templates then stuck then on.
Pedal assemble fitted, put a washer before final clip to take out some slop in pedal.
Started fitting the hood lining. Slowly slowly before cutting it.
What happens when you stick a needle file under your nail.

Marty,
reading this thread brings back memories, the spring stabbing myself and chipping paint cause i was in a hurry to get stuff done to finish the car.
use masking tape on all edges and panels where things can slip off and scratch or chip.
far out man your on the home run big time with record pace as well.
G
and ouch

Thnx Marty, my car came with the same size tyres, Bridgestone eagers 225 and 205 front, but I guess that's a common size for a torry. clear coating the rims doesn't sound like a good idea to me either as when fitting tyres etc they will surely chip. cya Greg

how you do such fine work with a big fat injured thumb marty?Hi all, a week of fiddly bits.

Hi MustardGTR, thanks for the complements, I'm sure you will get to see the car soon. Early next year. Seatbelts are out of my control now, have to wait and see. Got some more bits back from platers. For some reason they did most of it in gold
Six rims from the polisher, all done for $270.
Marty
Very nice Marty, Hope my Hot-wires turn up like this, they are still at the polishers, should be shipped this Thursday

I'm sure they will mate, you tend to make sure you do stuff right so I reckon its a safe bet.
Posted 11 July 2014 - 10:49 AM
Marty, did I read correctly that you used welding rod to make the door lever return springs?
Posted 11 July 2014 - 07:57 PM
Thanks Grant, but if my home made springs work, that's a big 'if'. They will cost me 20 cents each, so that rip-off merchant can shove those springs up his arse. Mine better work after that bagging:-)
marty, if they do there is a market for them at 3/4 price of his price.
