Got myself a NOS alt, it does need the fan and pulley re-zincing but small price to pay for an $80 parta3adyzap.jpg

ydy2a6ud.jpg

Bought some fuel line and started bending that up. Almost gave up due to failures but the guys on here worked out where I was going wrong.

yha7uha6.jpg

3ajyhu5u.jpg

u2a6upu9.jpg

Got my boot light wireing worked out. Needed to run a new full orange wire from globe to harness under dash.

7a7a2y4e.jpg

Got the fan motor checked then fitted it up.

y2ubema9.jpg

Wish I could see the car from a distance but due to tight space this is the best view.

ygy4u8ud.jpg

More bits ready for zincing.

Marty, did I read correctly that you used welding rod to make the door lever return springs?

Yes, version one was standard Tig but version two is Stainless.  Still yet to fit and test.

marty, if they do there is a market for them at 3/4 price of his price.

I'd do them for $5 delivered. If they work???? otherwise another Marty idea gets binned.

Marty stainless is a bad choice to make a spring, it will "work harden" very fast and snap.

Car is looking great mate. :-)

Marty,
The 316 stainless Tig wire will be fine for the spring Mate, it is not like we are bending it back and forth till it snaps.

Welcome LSA GTS glad you like, hope to be driving it by January.
Got a decal of forum member and stuck it on. Really love the look of it on the Red rocker, seems to jump out more than on chrome. (As it should be)be6epuru.jpg

Re-did my Fusebox by stripping the connectors out and making some text decals. Really happy with the new look.

edehepy5.jpg

Fitted the boot lock holder, this was tricky and took ages to slide into position.

Pretty sure it's ment to be black, looks better than silver.

tesy6azy.jpg

Heap of stuff back from chromer and zincer.
9a6yvuta.jpg

The shifter is together and greased up. yretyzus.jpg

Got the other end of boot light all done.

I was missing my brake hose brackets, couldn't find any but could borrow some. Made up a set out of 3mm tube. ene3e2yh.jpgata8ype8.jpgejygu3aj.jpg

Hood lining is almost finished, I'm taking it slowly, bit at a time. 4u2uzape.jpg

Marty.... this car is looking amazing. I would love to come up and have a yarn. I promise not to dribble on it! I'm down the other end of Lord St.

I was going for the straightest body lines on a LC/LJ in Perth, but you have now taken that... :P

Thanks to Dave, John, Phil, Grant and Mike. Phil and Mike just pm me if you want to come over. Be great to see your car on the road Mike, best of luck with the final step.

Went to the hobby store for some paint for the gauge needles and some flat clear for over the decals on lower dash.

aquzyzup.jpg

Got my tank back from the panel beater friend who got the dents out for me.

usyjuny2.jpg

7utenu9y.jpg

Dummy fitted the tail lights before final polishing and painting. Also back bumper fitted.

9udy8agu.jpg

I've tapped out the dents and sanded these trims ready for the buffing wheel.

Fitting the GTR badge was a pain. Was going to make some original looking brackets to hold it but the badge pins aren't in the normal spot. Had to make custom brackets then the badge pin busted while tightening the nut.

Common problem I hear.

Hey Marty,

I read somewhere, that the weight of the Paint can affect the Gauge Needle from working Properly,

and the outcome was to remove the Paint for the Needle to work properly again,

think it was the Tacho Needle they were talking about.

Nice GTR Badge in the Grille Look

great work Marty, quick question, do all 73 Gtr's have the grill badge,i see in some photo's that some do and some don't? Mine doesn't but that doesn't mean it hasn't fallen off or been nicked or something, cheers

something to think about there Dave.  I'm sure it's common practice to paint them though, the Dash restoration guys must paint them, just don't put it on to thick.

Greg, as far as I know all GTR's including LC's had the grill badge, just not the XU-1s.  I think they look awesome and one of the reasons I prefer the look of the GTR.

HaHa, Thanks Col, I'm really slow, I could never make a profit.

Hi Greg, I never put those measurements in on purpose because it's on a curve with corners and didn't want to give wrong details.

I have just gone out to the shed and measured the hole for a rough guide, ideally a tracing is best, that is what I used to get mine.

OK front of hole to back 105mm straight edge to straight edge.

From left to right its 114mm thats curved futherest point to straight edge.

Might be best you take a drive over here and trace it or I can trace and post it to you.

Marty

Just stripped my eBay stickers off the lower dash. This never looked quite right with the wrong font and satin black finish.

nydeguda.jpg

9ysuhyne.jpg

Cut out and applied my own decals.

y4ajubu4.jpg

3y3y2apa.jpg

Then I sprayed it all with flat clear then redid the silver lines. Looks much better in my opinion. 5y8erana.jpg

a3atujys.jpg

Now to fit the bits to it.

Marty, You also need to put the silver around the raised edges associated with heater/ fan slots.

Good spot Aleks, I've penned mine twice and never realised. Thanks 'Eagle Eye':-)

Your picture looked like one I took at Toranafest but when I checked it was different. I had a look at my original dash and I think there are remnants of silver on those parts.

Can anyone else confirm the silver in these areas?

Heres my pick of a top rest from ToranaFest, it has no silver?.
