Hi Adam,

Yeah they will try and fix-it. Their concern was if they try fix it, and it warps, the thing is stuffed.

If it does go bad, they will re-chrome another one if I get one.  All no extra charge.

Their attitude was helpful, so I'm happy and hopeful. Find out next week.

Marty

Hi Madaz, getting the fascia off is a bit messy, just used a small flat blade and work my way around the lip to stretch it. Once repaired I think I'll leave them loose. Don't want to tap it back into shape cause the guage will shake.

I've got the front indicators sorted with single wires.

Getting the kFrame off the table.

enuruded.jpg

Some wheels on it and almost on the ground.

upumyguh.jpg

Brake bracket zinced and fitted.

e5a7yvyg.jpg

Got a new speedo cable and fitted that. Used a bit of wire to guide it through the pedal assembly mount.

emeru5eg.jpg

Cable looks pretty good, just needed a cable tie to stop the attaching nut from sliding down the cable.

Mounted indicator, made a new earth bolt.

Started stripping the box.

Sand blasted the casings.

Ready to lift engine onto kFrame. Just not sure where to grab it from. I'm thinking straps under the sump with bits of wood to spread the load? And a strap between box and motor.

Motor looks great mate, so does the front end.

It was just sex but now its sex on wheels  :badabing:

Gonna be hard to get that motor in without scratching it but I used a load balancer with a handle on the front so you can tilt the motor forward and back when I pulled the motor from Dave's car.

Attached to chains using head bolts.

As recommended by Bomber.

Lets you manouvere it in or out.

Ya, sure would especially seeing as everything is already removed from the body.

It will be a bit scary lifting the body but I reckon it would be just as scary if not more to swing the motor over the top of that beautiful paintwork.

This is the way I prefer to do it. When I do it the other way I think "What if this fell on the nose cone...."

Marty already said he was going to put the engine on the k frame 1st, then obviously to drop the car over it, that's how I read it anyway.

Hi Stuart, welcome to the build.  Always good reading a start to almost finished thread, instant results.

Hi again Steve,  I reckon the colour will really jump-out once in the engine bay. Cheers

Hi Stinga, not sure what that bolts too, but I didn't want to unbolt any manifolds or head bolts etc. Managed to lift it with strap.

upumyguh.jpg

Hi Dave, blue nuts means they still need tightening.

That bush is in the same way it came from factory. I have a theory that once you turn the bush the other way, as recommended by somebody from GMH in a tech upgrade (probably and apprentice) you have more chance of cracked K-frames. My frame was perfect and I know of others that have the bush my way with no cracks after 40 years. You probably find all the cracked Kframes have the bush the wrong way.  I look at things from a logical perspective and this way makes sense.  :-)

Hi Craig, yeah it scares me more lifting an engine over than lifting the body up. (not that I've ever lifted a front end). I do have that gismo but when removing the engine it was still tight and hitting firewall etc.

So not painting the springs and shocks original colours ?

Hey Neil, Shocks and springs stay as is, I like the colour combination better than original. The car will look original but it won't at the same time.

Great looking engine Marty, top work.

Cheers Graham .

Thanks Graham, hopefully another few weeks and it'll be in.

This is the way I prefer to do it. When I do it the other way I think "What if this fell on the nose cone...."

Exactly :-)

The outrigger bushes in mine were installed the way you have them and my brace arms had cracks.

The NOS crossmember I installed around 25 years ago I installed the bushes the correct way around and no cracking to date.

I believe these service bulletins are compiled by GMH Engineers not apprentices.

Totally your choice what you do. Just trying to help.
