Whats the horn gasket off Marty? Any tips for adjusting tone of the horn? I'm going to have a crack at tidying one up in a few weeks. and need to make one good one out of two separate units.

Aren't those weather strips a joy to fit, LOL! Especially using sika flex.

Gasket is either hilux or patrol, I've had both cars.
Could not get horn to work at all without gasket, it's very intriguing. There's a stray bolt head on back of horn I tightened and loosened until happy with sound, it can sound very sick on the loose setting.

Aah the weather strip, yes Jonesy a messy frustrating job. I have to fix up passenger side because it didn't do what I wanted.

Marty, I hope you put the windows in the doors before installing the belt weatherstrips and adding the finishing touches to the 1/4 windows.

I didn't realize you could tune the horn. Is that a common thing on most car horns?

Nice work by the way Marty. Beautiful attention to detail.

The tuning for the Horn is actually determined by its current draw. This was outlined in my GMH LH Service Manual. That is how I tuned my Horns on the bench.

Horn Gasket is either hilux or patrol, I've had both cars.

Did a quick bit of Googling and looks like it is as follows:

Outer Hub Gasket
All Hilux 4x4 front up to 1/2005
Landcruiser All Landcruisers with rigid front axle from 9/1975 up to 1/1990.
Also fits Landcruiser rear hubs from 9/1975 on.

Useful little bit of information that. Will confirm 100% when I order one and get stuck into mine.

G’day all, It’s been a busy couple of weeks with not a lot of car action.

We had our bulk rubbish pick up last week so even though the cars not finished, it’s time to pull down the cacoon and let out the butterfly.

Heres a video of the cacoon teardown with some pics aswell.

Where is it hiding?

The remnants on the verge. Picked up by someone to use as a pigeon house.

Attached File  IMG_6607.jpg   62.03K   19 downloads

Cleaned-up the area and repainted walls and moved shelves.
Attached File  IMG_6610.jpg   54.1K   21 downloads

What's that hiding in the corner? Looks pretty.

Another great piece of news is………the GTR fits in my workshop straight in.  When I designed the workshop (as big as possible)I had it all drawn on paper with a paper cut-out of the LJ, which didn’t seem to fit. I’d have to swing car sideways to fit.  So I’ve had the workshop 3 years and the car 2 and a half and not until my wife said measure it last week did we work it out. Brilliant. :-)

So the time had come for its first test drive. I had changed the insurance, got RAC breakdown service and organised a permit. I was ready.
Watch carefully as the GTR starts 'To Fly'

Marty

Hello Marty,

From all the work you put into your project, and to ask for help in identifying all the little bits and pieces that go into such a Torana,

so they are right, right down to the last nut and bolt, and for the benefit of us all is astounding.
