I used to think my 60 series big 225's looked good. Funny how things change.
Along with my red rocker cover and the old rims and tyres, they've been replaced.
I noticed when comparing my car to another with the 9" rims and 235/50/13 the other car always looked friggin' awesome. So when the 9" and 7" sprint masters were remade I grabbed a set even without a set of tyres for them. In February I was at a swap meet and found some unused 235's and then last week I found new Dunlop 215's for the front.
Anyway, I think they look cool.
When your car is all 'Show and No Go', you gotta try and look tough.

Those 73 model rocker covers are hard to find especially in good enough condition to get chromed. Your engine bay looks great.

Marty,
Wow! Wow & Wow!!, Did I say Wow!!
Marty, If you are going to make a rebuild book, may I please purchase one? You set the price, and I will buy one, what ever the price!
I am not sure if this has been asked of you, a build thread is great, but a build book would be fantastic! the in's and out's, the do's and dont's, the can be's and can't be's etc etc etc!!! Just a total complete guide from start to finish as I would think this is a great wealth of info for those that would love to try achieve the impossible that you have!
I will take the info that you have offered out and hope to try and achieve the result when I get the opportunity to get my project going?
Thanks for your inspiration Marty well done.

What can i say, I have just read this thread start to finish.
I think i can say that it is the most enjoyable resto story i have ever read,
Marty, considering your limited experience when you started i have never seen such a good result from such humble beginnings, i cant pick one single fault with the car.
My FX holden build done with similar amount of experience and with the help of an experienced mate, i can still pick 50 faults at least and its been on the road for 7 years now LOL
Hats off to you well done

Thanks very much, it was fun looking back at it now and I met a lot of really great people who helped in many ways. Sort of a shame it's over. Theres some awesome build threads, and my favourite was Dads Car by Barry Jackpot, full of great writing and a very emotional video, kept us all on edge for years. Unfortunately with the photo bucket money grab a lot of great threads have become unreadable. I was just very lucky that I uploaded pics and they're still visible.
Hope to catch-up with a few of you at ToranaFest in a few weeks, keep an eye out for me wearing one of my one-off shirts. Stop and say hi!

What part of Perth do you live? I'm cruising tomorrow morning around Mullaloo for coffee and breakfast.
Just added another finishing touch to the engine bay. A friend in my car club went to the USA and bought me back a set of high tension leads. Supposedly made to blueprints as original with 1st quarter 1973 markings.

Just keeps getting better mate.
Love the XE1 t-shirt.
The first 2 pics with the fat tyres are on my wall of Torana now.
Looks so good.
The photos don't do the car justice though, not quite the same colour as I remember.

Marty, your thread was great, just had to sit down and read a few pages each day after work until I got through it all
Like Paul, if you had an option of a copy to purchase, I'd buy one! But appreciate it's your book for your collection.
As still new to this forum and trying to get ideas, build costs, techniques etc, your thread stuck out there as a unique guide to see with patience and persistence and your heart set on a goal, you can achieve!
Great comment in the cost of your build "What ever you do..................don't add it up!" Hahahaha, classic, but true.
I look forward to try viewing more threads of those been prior suggested to help.
To try get to a meet and see how all the fellowship works in the torana community here would be great. Am a full blown West Aussie, but migrated to Sunny Brisvegas a few years back, if & when back in the west I'd shake your hand on your commendable efforts and the originality of your complete build.
Cheers.

Hi Craig, Glad you like the shirt, i'm sure some people will miss the pun!
Yeah I love those two pics, just got the right angles. It's a hard colour to photograph!

Hi Paul, the book was a one off through Apple Books and I've since deleted the file that created it.

Love the wheels Marty, did you have to do any guard massaging to fit them?
Cheers Graham.
Hi Graham, the rear guards lips were rolled at the back (about 6 inches) when the build was under way. Then I trimmed the rest of the lip back to the spot weld about 6 months ago. Bit scary getting the angle grinder out but steady as she goes and then touch up paint edge and polish lip.
Fronts untouched.
