Thanks Craig, just glad to have it all primed, surface rust was annoying me. I can relax a bit now.
Sounds like yours is coming along too, nice work with getting the engine running.

Plan is to get the under body painted next, but while I'm waiting on other things I've started doing some bogging. First practicing in the boot and under body by smoothing out some welds. Just good to get a feel for how to mix it, spread it and sand.

G'day Steve, thanks, I must say that everyone I met from the forum, or just to do with these cars has been very welcoming and friendly. I think we all realise what's involved in owning or restoring Toranas, time, commitment and financial outlay. A big pat on the back to all us friendly Bogans.
Marty your hooking into her pretty quick. Slow down man I need to catch up. I like the idea of the red oxide inside. Keep it up marty.
Hey, Whoosa, haven't heard much from you lately, still a bit cold down there? The red oxide is purely for looks and a bit of protection. I know when I pull up a bit of carpet in a car and see beautiful red oxide it gets me going, more than thick paint, bitumen, sound deadener. When someone pays big dollars for a car they will always check these hidden areas.
Just been doing the seam sealer, I wanted black to match original but couldn't get it so I'll have to spray some more red over this lot.

G'Day all,
The weather in Perth is wet & windy, has been for two weeks. Great for me 'cause it's too dangerous to work so more Torana time.
Seam sealed all the underside and inside plenum chamber, found the only way to get right in there was to use my hand and shove my arm all the way in.

Bought a shaultz gun and some anti chip and sprayed the rear inner guards. I like the look it leaves, speckled but you can still see all the lines of the panels.

Hi Mort, I got the gun and Anti Gravel from my paint shop. I've seen the guns on ebay pretty cheap and there's not much to them. I paid about $50 but you can get them lots cheaper. The Anti Gravel was $25 a litre and does 2.5 guards. Use low air pressure when using this gun. The gun also comes with a hose with 360 degree jet for spraying cavity wax.
Hi Marty,You're car is looking great, really inspiring me to keep my project going.

Hi Graham, I'm really enjoying the rebuild at the moment, just want to get it on the ground with doors and bonnet etc. I bought the soudel seam seal which is the grey one, my spray painter friend said they were having problems with it going off in the tube so he got me another 5 tubes of Sika flex. My preference is the Soudel brand, it smoothed out better but both are a great product. I estimate the whole car will take 6 tubes.

When you said you wanted to pay attention to detail, I didn't envisage anything like this mate.
Can't wait to see colour on it, I bet you can't either.

Evening All,
It's been a week or so working on the underside, getting the rails nice and prepping for final paint.
Heres my effort to replicate spot weld marks on my repaired section.

Plugging holes before painting.

Masking all done.

IMG_3800.jpg 44.26K 34 downloads
Mixing the paint, I used a total of 1.8 litres mixed to do the underside. Used my new gun with 1.4 nozzle. The new gun makes a big difference with oversparay, alot less paint used and less fumes blowing around.

I run this extractor fan which vents through filters and seems to do just whats required.

Just got the car off the rotisserie this arvo. First time I've seen the front of the car in 6 months. All the doors, bonnet and boot get put on tomorrow.
