Are you concerned about the heat near that brake line?

Exhaust wrap or shield should fix that

Merry Christmas guys and girls
Just need a little feedback to steer me in some direction on the exhaust/rear mufflers
I took a few pics of the rear mufflers in this position but i think it may look a little ricey??? another way i could do it is hide the mufflers a little more and weld curved downwards dump pipes?
What you reckon?
Thanks

Part of me likes it but it feels a little ricey
Maybe it will look better if the car was on the ground? Im not sure but i need to decide soon as its almost time to weld them on.
Maybe i should tuck them away a little and go the dump pipes?

So rice.. dont do it..

Down-curved pipes or straight-through pipes look the best. I reckon you should get the tailpipe setup like on the xu1's

Is there any chance of painting them black? this might make them look a little bit more subtle?

Thanks guys, i agree with tucking away and the dump pipes, i think i will leave them polished? I will see how it looks when i tuck em up with dump/down turn pipes, the down turned pipes will be 3.5" dia, should be ok i think
Thanks again guys its good to get advice.

The LJ is at Best Mufflers, the owner of Best Mufflers is pretty cool, very helpful if you need advice.
This LJ has the exhaust straight out as the customer wanted but i think turn downs/dump pipes would be better. Nice LJ at the end.

Best Mufflers are pretty good, that's where my lc is going next year...damn those 4 into 1s(around 2-2.5k quoted) are pretty fkn tight,I remember him mentioning that they would come out piece by piece with engine still in the bay...noticed it didn't have a chassis kit...hmm

Cant help you with pics of mine as I ended up changing the short tailpipe off the muffler from 3in to 2 1/4,yes the muffler guy gave me a funny look lol,was only cheapy single system anyway.

Dump pipes kind of hidden would look better on your car IMO as the fuel tank will be the main standout to notice, twin mufflers in full view would make it look somewhat overkill I think.

Iv only bought a 3" donut and 2 reducers, 3"-2.5" from Chris at Best Mufflers but yeah he does seem up front and doesnt mind giving advice.
Agree with the 4 into 1s, what a job, I would lose what ever hair I have left doing something like that
Iv roughly set the height of my rear muffler, basically I can see less than a quarter of the bottom of the muffler, I will take pics tomorrow if I remember.
The rest of the twin 3" piping including the home made X pipe is all tacked together along with the Metal Cats, will try to drag it all out to fully weld it fingers crossed it wont fall apart in the process lol.

Sounds good Bart!

You had any more thoughts about chassis strengthening? I'll probably end up getting a crs kit, ordering it next month, would rather cage it & get the shell welded up but nobody seems convinced that would be enough to stop chassis twisting..wonder how the big hp cars hold up without the crs kits.

You may want to talk to Rod Andrews in Seven Hills, he can tell you if a cage is enough since he builds them.

More tack welding on the rear muffler, I have tucked the muffler up havnt bought the turn downs/dump pipes yet but will do soon as the other muffler it tacked up. You will see the muffler even less when the car s on the ground as the car is up on stands.

The only problem i can see with this flange being their is in the future when i tub the rear this flange will be in the way.

This is my atempt of an Xpipe, I dont like the way it turned out, i will modify it before i fully weld it so its more of an X shape, but for now im running with it the way it is so i can complete the rest of the exhaust.

Exhaust pipes are all tacked up, rear mufflers are tucked away, no dump pipes yet.

I bought some rubber exhaust mounts and made up some stainless steel exhaust hangers

Had an ass of a job pulling out the exhaust in one piece, anyway here it is all tacked up, looks shitty as it needs a clean up after its been tack welded.
Today i started fully welding it, so far its ok
