Good to see more progress mate!
Those engine mounts look good. Its basically the same kind of setup we're using on the 1UZ.

Keep the progress coming!

Hey mate what is the ID of the pipe that the bush goes into? Also OD of the bush and do you happen to know what ford it came from?

Looks like a neat way to do engine mounts.

Cam covers have been cut, i made up some patches to be welded in. This is to make more clearance from the chassis rails.

Sincerest apology for not replying sooner, I havent had much time to have a good look at the engine mounts for you until now.
I.D. of the pipe is 5.5cm and the wall thickness is 3.5mm. O.D. is 6.3cm.
The engine mount is Ford, it is the full rubber type as apposed to the rubber with the holes in it, (the holey ones were to make a softer ride).
The Part # FA7334 and then on the opposite side says L9, I dont know what that means.
If you are going to do the same thing i suggest buying the engine mount first and going off its measurements as it must be a press fit. :spoton:

At the moment im making the front suspension upper mounting shafts out of 4340 round bar, ill post pics of it soon as iv nearly finished one, its really hard shit to turn in a lathe.
Also made up some spacers to clamp down on the cam covers while i get them welded.

It will be the same colour as the rest of the car, i will attempt to paint it myself, in a couple of years i will have the whole car striped and sand blasted and a colour change will definitly happen. At this stage i am only completing it at a level to pass engineers and rego so all the things i originally wanted to do wont happen until after i get it engineeded and regoed as you prob know the RTA want tp restrict the engine capacity rules so first thing is first. :D

Suspension cross shaft nearly ready, needs to be millled flat.
Unfortunatly i dont own a mill yet so i need to get someone to do for me.
The material is 4340 chrome molly steel, this stuff is really hard to machine as i discovered but machines up realy nice.

measure twice cut once. fantastic to see someone who isnt afraid to grab a grinder and have a go. first time ive read your pages and im glad i did. thank you for so many pictures.
my only suggestion would be to not run your mig through a double adapter and a power box. that may help the machine run smoother and certainly prevent a meltdown. all that great work i'd hate to see that old rope let go too. a short one tonne sling costs under $20 bucks and is a sound investment.
best wishes for your dealings with the rta, hope it all goes your way.

Thaks for your kind words and suggestions, that rope is proven but i take your point, iv been meaning to make a cross bar and chain to lift the motor but not enough time.
I may just get that sling.

is the problem with the welder when you start each run or during the run?
it will add time to the job but will allow the panels to cool a bit anyway if you cut the burnt wire from your handpiece before each run.
your choice of gas is correct however a mix without the black band(oxygen) will be a cooler mix and may help with penetration/blow thru problems.

Some sump pics, i had it modified, at the momonet im still thinking how i should plumb an external oil pick up, unfortunatly the original pickup point is where the flat part of the sump is now, so i may have to drill a hole through the flat part of the sump and poke a threaded tube through it and seal it off with a nut, then screw on/attach an elbo on it then to the external pich up.

Bart is your last name FOOSE or TREPANIER by any chance. Surly you are the Australian god of car crafting. So when are you visiting Brisbane next. I have an EH wagon which needs some tricky rust repairs doing.

Top work keep up the good effort and keep the pics coming. You are a true legend around here.
