I can't work this out. :mellow:

Need to remove these little spiked clips to get the bolts out! These are in the heater box and go through the fan motor.

How is it done with-out destroying the clips? I tried levering with a micro screwdriver, I could try harder, just hoping for an easy way out.

From memory I ended up using a small screwdriver to carefully bend the lugs out enough to get them off.

Yeah what Dave said. Go slow with a small screwdriver.
If you bust then teeth from the lock washer and need a replacements you may be able to get some the correct size from Small Parts and Bearings in QLD.

i use a pointy nose pliers and a small flat blade, buy squeezing the metal outside ring with the rubber under it, bit buy bit and then turn it as you work it.
i know there are a lot of ITS going on there hay.

you can just leave them in the metal platers will go right over it.

the rubber is not effected by the acids and zinc

that's how i did mine.

turned out fine

yep it's a bugger of a job

The metal base is totally rusted so I've bought a new heater box and need to transfer this stuff over.

That was challenging.....

Heres how I did it.

It required 2 pairs of hands, long nose pliers, very small flat blade screwdriver and a hammer.

I cut the section out and mounted in a vice.

Squeeze down on the grip washer and insert screwdriver above spike then lightly tap with hammer until you can lever the spike over the ridge. While still keeping pressure on this spike so it doesn't drop back in the groove do the same to the opposite side and so on.

It was tricky and even another a third pair of hands could be handy.
