Hi Daz, PM me your phone number and I will explain the rego process that wnt through. It may not be as bad as you think.
As for the mid November cruise, you are more than welcome to join me. I will need to confirm if my wife will come or not, if not you would be welcome to hold on tight in my car! :)

Windscreen and exhaust! Sounds exciting now, getting closer all the time.

Gonedeaf, what's yours in need of?

I'm back to the dyno on Friday, can't wait to find out what is got

Grant my cars on the road already. Got it on the road about 5 months ago but just done the brakes so all I have to do is put new pads on the front and I am ready to rock n roll.

Here's my dyno results from late last year.

Progress...

Central locking is installed.  Makes it so much easier when you can pre-wire things before carpet and seats go in so it was a pretty simple install.  Was struggling to actuate consistently so I pulled the latches and removed the little springs and reinstalled.  Works great now  :)

Started installing new seat belts but the supplied bolts are a different thread so I gave up on that until I dig my old belts out and I'll use those bolts.

The guys coming over to install the windscreen tomorrow hopefully...so that'll be another job off the list

Having a clicker for the door locks is handy...:)

I had the same with my belts. When you do find them you will have to drill the belts out cause the old bolts are too thick for the holes.
So much for "replacement " when they don't fit!
Good to hear of your progress

You were spot on about the belts. Useless!!

But, once installed they are great :o

I agree they are great. Don't know if you will have the same opinion after riding in mine. They tend to creep tighter and tighter, then don't release in a hurry. (may have something to do with my driving style!?!)

My driving style is the same so I hope you can keep up next Sunday :joystick:

How did the front screen go? Makes a huge difference to the way it looks when it's in. Makes it feel like a huge step forward.

Pics?

Yeah, the screen is in but he didn't realise until after it was installed thats its got a big scratch so he's coming back to do it again!  :banghead:

I didn't have time for pics yesterday as it was the anniversary and I was running late.... so here you go.

Sorry about the delay  :nopity:

It's come out really good and I'm really happy with it....still a few odd jobs to do but it is almost there.  Need to decide what sort of steering wheel I'm going to get.  I've a few standard ones here and an SLR wheel but not sure.

You can see the custom mod job I did to add the hatch wings to my console to house the LS1 PCM and the B&M shifter.  It came out pretty good and it's rock solid so I'm happy with it.

Very tidy, looks great. I like the speedo mod too.
Your to do list must be getting shorter now. Looks about done.

Shame on your front screen

Steering wheels are a hard one. I like the GTS wheel. I will get one for mine sooner or later. I think they look the best

Mate its looking very nice. Love your colour scheme on the interior. As far as the steering wheel goes I have a GTS wheel on mine just like 90% of Torana's do cause I think they suit them the best. If I was you that's what I would put on but its personal choice. Love the B&M shifter if I had an auto I would definitely have one, they look tough and operate nice. Lookin good man got to be only a few weeks away now, bet your just itchin to take it for a nice cruise.

Yep, hanging for a drive. Thanks for the nice words.

Did a few little jobs today, got the Bluetooth working on the radio. LOL.

Also was playing around with the fuel pump to try and quieter it down. I run the MSD external inline pump and its damn noisy. What do you run other injected dudes run and are they super noisy? If I have it hanging off the fuel lines its quiet so I guess it's vibrating through the body. It's already insulated lots but more needed? I want it to look super neat and tidy so it breezes through engineering/rego etc so not real keen on making something nasty looking but effective at this stage. Maybe I could wrap it with dynamat and put dynamat between the pump and brackets?

OK, so decided against the SLR/GTS wheel I have here for a variety of reasons....major one being that this car isn't an SLR  :deal:

So picked up this guy and fitted it up.

Came out good. Installed the horn and got it all working.  Scared the crap outta the missus as she was walking past

Also dynamatted the boot and put the carpet in.  Removed the fuel pump, insulated it above, below, made a heat shield and rubber mounted it also.  It is a little quieter but still pretty noisy.  The last jobs remaining are charcoal cannister install and plumb it into the LS1.  I have everything here to do it but will do it after the exhaust is installed (happens Monday).  I'm also waiting for the windscreen guy to come back and fit a replacement screen.  Hopefully that will be during the week.

Thanks.

Yep, no worries - will do when I get around to it. I'm planning on putting it all under the drivers side front guard and plumbing it into the factory commodore charcoal cannister purge thing which sits on top of the inlet manifold.

Dropped the car off at the exhaust shop this morning   :D

Today was a great day.  :)

Picked her up from the exhaust shop around lunch time.

Twin 2.5" system and they said unless I wanted 2" or smaller pipes that it would have to go under the diff.  No worries as there is still heaps of clearance to the road and bottom of the diff for travel as well.  Nice and neat job.  The cats could probably be a little closer to the floor as they are the lowest part of the car but still happy.

After I got her home, I gave the glass a quick clean, installed the rear view mirror, got an unreg'd vehicle permit and went for the maiden voyage to check everything worked and iron out bugs.... well everything so far is working great.  Heaps of punch off the line (although not nearly as quick as Grant's LS2) and really nice and quiet when cruising along.  The diff feels a bit tight and jumpy when slowly turning but I think that's just because it is fresh and it might need to free up?

Ended up doing about 50km worth of cruising about checking things out and had a huge smile the whole time.   :3gears:

The windscreen guy is apparently coming tomorrow morning to replace the scratched glass they installed 2 weeks ago so after that is done I can install windscreen wipers etc..

Still need to do the charcoal cannister install and get a front end alignment....then it's off for engineering.

That will probably not be until just before xmas as I have a few things on the next month or so...

Anyway, here are some pics I took on a quiet country road I went cruising down

Those catalytic converters will heat up to around 500 degrees celsius, you don't want them too close to the floor.

Excellent wheel choice by the way, fantastic looking car. :)
