Excellent, well done - like you said, a good day. Car looks great, and the fact nothing went wrong in 50kms is a credit to the quality of your build. Nice work.

Agree the cats getting to 500 deg makes sense having it a bit lower. It was a great day getting it out and giving it a squirt.
Oh and grant, no mate, I think your right foot is a bit heavier than mine

Hi Mick, cheers! Yep, I'm from SE Melb. I'll be keen to come along to any events
The windscreen guy came today and fitted a replacement screen.

Bought a few more bits and pieces to cross a few jobs off. Gave the car it's first wash and even went the chamois
Fitted a few hidden immobiliser switches and things for security then went for another small cruise to check a few things out. Brakes feel like they are almost fully bedded in and it's pulling up good. Engine feels strong.
Today was much cooler than yesterday and as a result, the engine temp never got over 180F (82C) while sitting in traffic and/or highway cruising. Sure runs nice and cool with that big radiator

Ha!!
Found 4 pictures of my car when randomly trawling Facebook.
The place that did the exhaust posted them up to their page.
Was a bit of a shock at first....last thing I expected to see.

Berwick breakfast cruise is pretty good heaps off old skool cars. Then the meet at east link is good too. You know what any cruise is is worth going too. We should do a Christmas cruise one weekend wicked.
I'll be up for that if I'm available.

OK, time to update as things have been happening.
So it's off to get engineered so needed to finish off some things which have been on the to do list for a while...
First one is connecting up the charcoal cannister and hooking it into the LS1.

This is the drivers side front wheel arch where I will mount the factory LX cannister.

Modified factory bracket.

Plug welded the bracket onto the front bar right inner iron mount. Gave it a lick of POR15.

Put the cannister in, and connected it to the factory tank vent line then ran the out to the LS1 CCP valve to let it do it's thing. Neat and tidy and really didn't take that long.

Installed the kickplate carpet things I bought about a year ago off ebay. Look good.
I then put it in for a wheel alignment and got it all straightened up. Drives way better now but in setting the alignment correctly I started to get rubbing turning into driveways etc so I checked it out and decided I needed to change the front tyres and go smaller. It has 215/45r17 and I changed them to 205/45r17 and that extra 5mm less on each side made all the difference. About this point was where my headaches started. I was out road testing the steering and a few other things when it started to hesitate a little coming off idle or when cruising along. Over the next day (30kms or so) it got worse and worse. I'd filled up with premium at a 7/11 a day back so my mate convinced me their fuel is shit so drained the tank and filled with BP 98 ultimate. No improvement... basically, after the engine warmed up from cold it would cough, fart, splutter and even pop out the exhaust and was waaay down on power. Decided in my head that it was ignition and a lead was breaking down so pulled the leads and fitted AC delco genuine leads. No change. Had then convinced myself it was a coil pack getting hot and breaking down so was in the process of buying coils to plug and play when a bloke I was telling about my issues asked who and where I had gotten my tune from. I explained it was an ebay mafless tune out of the box with VATS removed and a few other things changed. He told me to save my coil money and get the thing on a dyno asap for a proper tune as he'd seen this sort of crap before. So booked it in, drove it down and put it on the dyno. When they plugged it in the PCM came up locked and said it was out of a Chev Suburban, popped up a few fault codes including saying the O2's weren't working and dangerously lean
Fortunately, I had a spare PCM in my box of tricks so I quickly swapped it over on the dyno, they plugged back in, disabled VATS, then gave the car a few small runs on a standard sort of tune. Straight away it was running way better, no miss, no fault codes, fuel pressure constant 58psi etc. Then they tweaked the tables and gave it a full edit and ran it up hard a few times. Ended up making 221.7kw at 5500rpm at the wheels and 440nm of torque. I think that's close to 300rwhp so very happy with that.
Drove it home and it's like a different car. Much more snappy off the line and strong the whole way through. Smooth power and purs at idle. I've got no idea what happened to the old PCM as the 1st 100km I did in the car it went really well then deteriorated so quickly. Bloody glad I took the advice and went to the dyno to get it tuned properly.
Anyway, it goes in for engineering next so I'll see what surprises that will bring - hopefully none

That is odd about the PCM, but good you got to the bottom of it, and got it sorted out as well ! I still am curious what a mild tune and dyno run will show for mine...be interesting to see, when I get to it one of these days, lol
Hopefully the engineer's goes smooth for ya.

Cheers guys! Yep, Grant...bring on the Great Ocean road!! And, thanks Gerry, I think you and I definitely have similar taste.
Breezed through engineering, dunno what I was worried about
So, now I just need to head to vicroads, collect plates and it's cruise time

I thought you had to run the charcol canister off the ls1 engine, not the old holden unit.
Cheers, Nig.

G'day mate good job so far, only a handfull or less of things to go & she'll be sweet.
I thought you had to run the charcol canister off the ls1 engine, not the old holden unit.
Cheers, Nig.
Much less than a handful of things Nig....drive to Vicroads is about it now
No idea about the charcoal cannister. I thought the cannister size/style was more to do with the fuel tank than anything to do with the engine? At any rate, the engineer had no issue with it and part of the engineering was testing the emissions so it must've been OK...

Now just drive and clock up the km's.
Im not far behind you. I ran mine for a while tonight. Just have to bleed my clutch and give it a wash to remove the layer of dust.
Bring on cruising!!!
