It's not twisting up and lifting wheels off the ground but as it happened after I played with the bonnet I'm thinking I moved the bonnet enough to reduce the strikers bite. Then on hard launch it flexes just enough at the front to pop it?

You would think if anythings gonna flex from a hard launch it would be the chassis not the bonnet latch area. Maybe you just need to frOck around with it to get it adjusted properly. Are you sure the striker is getting all the way through the latch and catching properly.
I have got a chassis kit installed on my car and I don't see or feel any twisting whatsoever.

It hasn't happened since I adjusted the latch to give it more bite mate but like I said it did surprise the crap out of me when it happened. Maybe the latch was never adjusted correctly? Just seemed strange to me that the only 2 times it did it were on hard acceleration from a standing still...but anyway, like I said it hasn't happened since

I met a guy that had a 400 in a sedan, wasn't on the road long and his gaps had turned to crap.
To be honest gaps don't stress me, it's the cause that does.
Just keep an eye on things, it can always be added if need be

Yeah might have been just the latch wasn't lining up properly with the striker, they don't need to be out by much.

Thought I'd update on what's been happening.
So, since finishing the car have just been driving the wheels off it and having a ball. Heaps of fun and really reliable.
Have put 3000km's on it without an issue.
Anyway, yesterday I took it to Heathcote to give it a run and see what it runs in current form. The plan is to run it as is (done), then start changing a few things around and run it to measure the improvements.
Got 10 runs in yesterday with a best of 12.92 at 107mph. Was really consistent actually. The last 7 runs all came within a 1/10 of second or so.
Here is some pics of the fun (cheers to my mate for taking them).

I had quite of bit of wheel spin off the line and actually once when it changed from 1st to 2nd the arse kicked out and scared the shit out of me so the first thing to change will be the rear tyres. Going to go for a set of MT ET street radials. Will be hunting for rims and tyres in correct offset in the next few days hopefully.
After running like that I plan to pull the motor and box and change cam, valve springs, torque converter and a retune on the dyno before running it again.
This will all be some time off but I'm starting my research and planning from today

Good result. What diff gears are you running? My hatch ran a 13.5 @ 107 MPH. It was a manual M21 with 3.36:1 gears. It had a 12 in it but I couldn't get off the mark quick enough. The auto makes a difference too I reckon..

When considering a cam, if not changing pistons you can only o to a certain lift before you hit the valve on pston. Check out that before hosing a cam. Could save you a bit of grief.
Look forward to seeing your changes and gains.
Good luck

Thanks Gerry. I am very happy with it. I thought mid 13's would be about the go but I think grip was better than expected. It certainly grips better than when I am terrorising the regular streets
I have 3.5 gears in it.
One thing thou, you need a bigger helmet hehehehe
I know! What a frOcking blockhead. Those pics must make it much worse though
Being tall has it's drawbacks. With the stupid stackhat on the damn helmet was just pressing on the roof. It always makes me laugh how small even the big toranas are. It's like putting a V8 in a Corolla
Oh....and Grant, check out the water pissing out the tailpipes in a few of the pictures!
Random as.

Looks good Daz, impressive times, looking forward to see what the changes bring.

My LS1 Torana was running 11.90s @ 116mph, only time I went 12.90 and 105mph was just before the bottom end bearings all let go :(
Similiar setup, 3.55 gears and 17" 245 nankangs

Well a few small things have been going on.
Been busy with everything else so not much time to make changes but I have been doing plenty of driving!
I wasn't happy with the boat like (and unpredictable) handling through corners so fitted up a Whiteline front mount 24mm sway bar kit.

Basically has some brackets that go from the front bar brackets to mount the sway bar just behind and below the radiator. Pretty rigid once bolted in and simple install. Only needed to mod two small things so that's always a bonus

Can see it hanging out underneath the front....I've got a front spoiler to paint and fit up to toughen it up a bit from the front. Idea stolen front Grant
Just after I fitted the sway bar I took it out to Heathcote. Grant had his hatch there the same day so we had a few runs and a bit of a laugh. I fitted up some MT ET street radials on the back and ended up going .15 quicker - 12.77 @109mph. Definitely need more HP to go faster.

On the last run of the day I threw the accessories belt at about the 400ft mark (according to the marshal) and saw the light come on but kept my foot into it anyway until the finish line
It got pretty hot - gauge was maxed out

So towed it home, ordered a new belt, fitted it up and all good. Runs just fine.
When I was taking the ET streets off I noticed I'd flogged out a few of the studs on the rear. They had come loose and wouldn't tighten up. Instead of pulling axles and welding on them (first thought), I ordered all new studs. When I popped the drums I noticed on one side I had a tiny weep of brake fluid from the wheel cylinder and on the other side I had a decent axle seal leak. So I ordered axle seals for the 9" and new wheel cylinders. Put it all back together and all good.
While I had it in the air I decided to drop the tail pipes and fit little dumpers infront of the diff. I'd actually planned on doing this after I got it engineered and on the road but I never got around to it. So ordered the bits and made them up. Noise inside the cabin didn't increase much which is good and I prefer the rear look of it all now

The ET radials look to have helped you a bit. A 12 second street car is a very good package! I fitted some new ET's to my car today in readiness for August the 31st drags :-). Can't wait.

Anyway, fitted up a front spoiler a few months back.

Last time I ran down the strip I threw the serpentine belt mid track....and clocked up a PB
![](https://www.gmh-torana.com.au/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.png)
Anyway, while booting about I've noticed the belt is slipping near redline and on 1st/2nd hard changes. Did some research on the commodore forums and turns out it is common as the factory tensioner isn't up to it. So, ordered on of these Aeroflow billet things and fitted it up. Problem solved!
![image.jpg2_zpslbznkhto.jpg](https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn30/dhastings1/Torana%20forum/image.jpg2_zpslbznkhto.jpg)

I've also been having traction issues (lol) and decided I needed bigger rubber on the back.
So, I ordered in some 8 inch rims and had some sticky Dunlop 235/45r17s fitted to them.
Old boots and new boots.
![image.jpg5_zpsfh474c6m.jpg](https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn30/dhastings1/Torana%20forum/image.jpg5_zpsfh474c6m.jpg)

Next thing I plan on doing is a bigger fuel tank as I aim to drive this up to toranafest this year and be buggered if I'm filling it up 3 times on the way up.
I also need top as a cup holder to my custom console....

Did the bigger rubber help? The spoiler finishes the car off nicely too IMHO.
