The bigger rubber feels like it's helped..although it still skates around a bit when pushed
I've got a spare now which will be handy for long drives so an added bonus.

Ordered a 80ltr baffled tank with commodore pump and extra hole for aftermarket fuel sender. After it arrived, pulled the old tank.
I actually forgot to take many photos so not much to show. Took a bit of rooting around to get the tank in as it sat too close to the 9" diff for my liking so I needed to mod the rear hanger mounts to get the tank further back.
Can't really see much as its satin black...
But the straps are polished
Really happy with how quiet the pump is. Just did 500km on Sunday driving to Geelong and the Bendigo all Holden day. All working great and no surging when low level. Car actually started with 5ltrs in it when I first fitted it up. Cool!
I made up a steel glovebox inner and installed it. Didn't take any pics but it does the job and looks good too. It's a fair bit smaller than the overpriced cardboard thing but enough room to fit a fair amount of stuff so it'll work.
I installed a cup holder into the centre console between the shifter and the armrest.
Decided it was time to start carrying a spare, a jack and basic tools also so fitted them up and managed to strap it all in.
Also did an oil and filter change so the taxi is now ready for the big drive.

Awesome Daz. Love the front spoiler, and love the new tank. I reckon the satin black with polished straps works extremely well with your colour.
What a beast!
Cheers.

Cheers for the nice comments guys.
Yep, I've got one of them hairdresser cars in the queue waiting for its turn. Quite a few others in front of it though!! I may do a build thread but it'll be a ways off yet. Next two in line are Fords

The auto let go a fortnight back (thanks Grant for towing me home) and it was unfortunately terminal.
This whole thread I've been saying I was going to up the power and compare HP and times so it is now time.
Today I had a few hours spare so dropped the motor and box...

Just one question. Why would you bother putting catalytic converters back in the exhaust system? Why not leave them out? I have always removed them at any opportunity on cars I've been working on, but would never install them.

This would be the first time in two years a spanner has been put on it!

Big hair dryer Daz cmon you know you want you
LOL, yeah, nah. No hair dryer this time around Gene. I was tossing up the idea of one of them pro-charger or harrop blowers but I'll hold off on any sort of forced induction - for now.

I haven't made up my mind about the cats. I could delete them easily (infact I bought the pipe, bends and flanges to do exactly that 18 months ago) but not sure they are robbing me of hp. I'll do a bit of homework. I paid overs for good flowing cats back when. Basically, so long as it doesn't slow me down, I am all for looking after the environment...easy thing to change later on anyway.
This car is still the same as when it was built for the engineer.

Haha. Not quite but almost

So LS9 is off the table ? lol..
I used a Kenne Bell on an LS1 btw and was happy with the setup. (My mate's car over there now that I had built here...early Camaro)

We need to sus out a track day!
Hopefully not too soon, my diff is totaled.
Not only did I smash the center case, but I twisted one of the axle tubes and bent the housing.
I'm hoping to have it back by Christmas :(

Your timing is impeccable, just today I pushed the button on getting a new box built to stand up to 900hp, 3500 hi stall from torque converter technologies, Big cam, valve springs, retainers, collets, underdrive balancer etc. Box and converter won't arrive for 2 or 3 weeks....so add a week and I'm hoping to be on the road.....ummm to heathcote
