Jeff needs to give the hatch the submarine conversion  :)

This afternoon I got the outside door handles in, dropped the glass off for cleaning and tinting and hooked up the park/neutral and reverse switches.  All working perfectly...

Hey dagger,
Gr8 job on the car mate, looks really neat. Engine bay looks wicked. I think we need to catch up for a cruise. Although the Lj will need a clean up next to yours. Good job mate keep the good work going.

Dynamat is installed on the roof. I've been fabbing up the new centre console which is a mixture of 3 consoles I had laying about. Have grafted the hatch front section on which is going to cover the PCM for the ls1. Next is to install the roof lining and then the glass. Getting closer

Coming together nicely Daz that engine bay looks very smik. Hopefully you make it for the mid to late November cruise as I am looking at making it myself as long as the misses doesn't book something on my weekends off. Ooh well...will just have to tell the misses..sorry I 'm booked :spoton:

Headlining is in. Just need to trim and glue the edges, then put the b-pillar trims in.  I was going to put the door tops vinyl on (and I have it here) but they look brilliant in gun metal so I might leave as is for now.

Apparently I'm getting my glass back from being cleaned, polished and tinted on Tuesday so hopefully I can get all that in during the week.

Coming along well. I'm jealous of the time spent on the car to finish it. At the moment I have none.
Keep up the good work and good luck with making the November cruise.

Haha, wow. I was kinda forced into it by a combination of piss poor planning and the PSI conversions harness which is designed for LHD cars.  Now that it's in and sorted I'm happy with where it is :)

So after gluing in the head lining, I installed the interior light, sunvisors, rear mirror bracket.

Attached File  IMG_2160.JPG   130.98K   5 downloads

Then I got back into the wiring.  To get the PCM to unlock the torque convertor when you put your foot on the brake, one of these brake switches needs to be installed (it is different from the torana switch as it is closed when brakes not applied and open circuit when applied.  I mounted it right next to the factory brake switch and it works well.

Attached File  IMG_2162.JPG   161.92K   4 downloads

Attached File  IMG_2164.JPG   101.38K   4 downloads

Next job was headlight, front indicators, horn wiring.  I ran it under the guard, installed some nice connectors and tucked all the wiring away. Tested it out and we have lights :)

Next job was to clean up the under dash wiring and permanently mount the new fuse and relay panel. Made up a bracket and secured it all away.  Then I ran all the stereo and amp wiring between the boot and dash/battery.  Tucked it all out of sight.

Next job, vacuumed the floor.

I think nothing quite says progress like Dynamat going down :)

Attached File  IMG_2178.JPG   154.01K   5 downloads

Oh, and today I picked up the seats and door cards from the trimmer.  Really happy with how they came out - great workmanship. Exactly what I wanted.  His work sure is high quality, just a shame it took so long to happen.

Attached File  IMG_2182.JPG   145.05K   9 downloads

So, next is to finish off the Dynamat, put down the underlay, carpet, install the seats, get the console in, install the stereo, install the dash, install the glass, central locking, door trims and then off to get an exhaust....still a way to go but getting closer.  :3gears:

Thanks.

Looking brilliant and coming along well.
Where did you get the switch for the converter from. I want to set one up as my reverse lock out switch but don't know where to get them from

Hi Grant, the switch came from PSI conversions. What do you mean reverse lockout? What does your switch need to do?

Hey just reminding you that if your running any white & red RCA cables in your stereo setup, you need to have them running down either side of the car from the power to the amp if your running one. Otherwise you get a "whining" feedback through your system everything you accelerate faster or slow down.

It's been ages since Iv installed a decent stereo system but I'm pretty sure that's right. Just something to think about before you hide all the wiring under there.

Cheers, Nig.

Hi Nig,
I've got the 4 RCAs running down the centre and the amp power down the side so hopefully is ok. You can see the white RCAs in one of the pics.

I had planned to put the PCM in that spot early on actually, and since I made the harness, it could have been anywhere, lol.  It just seemed like a handy place I suppose?  My A/C duct to the console goes over the top of it, but still a fair amount of room around it.

And good stuff on all the wiring coming along too, and getting seats back too!

(I have an optic cable and an AI-net one to run my stereo signal from front to back...along with the power wire, no dramas for me this way at least)

Oh, and by the way...

Next job was to clean up the under dash wiring and permanently mount the new fuse and relay panel. Made up a bracket and secured it all away.

It might be obvious...but since I learned the pain in the butt way ages ago...don't mount it in too hard a spot to get to, if you ever need to get to a fuse late at night, in the dark..laying on your back. lol   (I mounted my add on fuse panel along side the factory one basically)

Hi Grant, the switch came from PSI conversions. What do you mean reverse lockout? What does your switch need to do?

Being that mine is a manual, there is a lock out switch on reverse so you can't acidently select reverse while going for 5th gear.

I want to connect it to the bottom of my clutch pedal, if I press the clutch all the way then you get reverse. Most of the time when shifting gears you only use part of the clutch throw, not the entire pedal. ( hope that makes sense).

So I am looking for a switch that works backwards to the normal brake switch.

Gotcha. Does that mean you can't get reverse unless you switch the engine off as it is now?

The PSI conversions website PSICONVERSION.COM has them Part # KIT-1002 at US$21.99 + postage.

Probably plenty of local switches you could adapt but they might cost a fortune :o

You get rego yet? You getting full or club?

Thanks, I will look into it.
I think I will go club reg for now then full reg at a later date when I get more time. My new born son doesn't like the idea of letting me sleep yet, so time is a valued thing at the moment.
What about you?

What's your rego worth Jeff, ours is around the $600 mark?
No Daz, to get reverse now I have a switch on my dash that I flick, I want to get rid of it though.
Mines off for a ready in the next week or so

Make that a roady

Makes Queensland look a bit expensive, close to $1000 a year for an 8 cylinder car!

$118 is just as crazy as $1000 but in a good way :)

I'm probably getting club reg Grant - still undecided but makes sense
