The bars are Cement pins.. I weld in before I pull apart to make sure everything stays in place.. There isnt much supporting when its apart.. I also make sure not to move the car once I have set up level on jack stands..

Nice repairs as usual are those bars in the door frame welded for extra support?

Hi Mike,

I always wondered how the Cowl was connected, and by the looks of it, there is plenty of room to get in there and fix bits properly as you do. Dave I

Hi all..

I got the cowl on... No problems.. I used a combination of spots and plug welds with some seam sealer behind to seal up...... Its very strong and sits very nice... I placed the guards on to check gaps etc.. Looks good...

I want to lead fill some of the RH cowl area,, Just to even the gap.. It shrunk a little from fixing some small rust holes.. It will do as is.. But while guards are off.. I might as well get better..

I had to use up the opened tube of seam sealer.. So I did the boot repair area..

Next time..

Mike

Oh .. check out the hospital bed I aquired... Should take 400kilos.. they do make em over kill... Ready made trolley that goes up and down.. I will modify a bit.. Me thinks its going to work a treat..

Hi All...

Its been a while.. Been busy with house renos and a new puppy...

The rust repairs are done on this car.. The only thing left to do is replace the roof.. Ill do that when Im paid up to date.. Dont want the bill to get out of hand.. :)..

I soent a bit of time getting the guard to door gap right.. I welded on a rod, ground back to get nice..

anyway..10 weeks to complete. Total hours for this car are 223.5.. consumables, including 2 x MIG gas, 1 ltr POR 15, Panel bond and all other bits was roughly $1000...

It turned out very well... I fish oiled in places as well... All told an enjoyable job, not too many headaches...

Im going to give cars a miss for a bit and continue the renovations on my sea side home.. Have to keep the missus happy.. Then Ill finnshe the XU-1.. then a new toy.. A LC GTR with matching motor/gearbox/diff/brakes, etc...very original.. Rusty as usual.. But fixable and I got it at the right price..

Stay tuned..

Mike

Hi Grant.... How u going? Your car done yet?

Seems Im a gluten for punishment. might be a bit crazy, Always up to a challange and ANY car is fixable, just how much has to be replaced/fixed.... ... I couldnt help myself with the GTR.. It was the right price and has ALL original running gear... Has rust, they ALL do.... This GTR isnt as bad as My XU-1..... The boot area is fine, the engine bay/chassis rails are fine, rear drip/roof is fine, rear parcel is excellant, LH door is fine, RH will need work... All the work is in the floors and seal panels and rear beaver.. The LH chassis rail is stuffed.. Thats about it... Not too hard to do.. Just time..

The XU-1 is primed in epotec and all straight... Its under cover waiting for the weather in Oct-Nov to paint....

Im going to do some renos on the missus house, Im going to reclad and render the front and new veranders front and back. Tile inside and paint an new fencing.. Should take 2-3 months.. Then hop into the GTR, That way I will have 2 cars to paint in summer....

I do have some cars booked... Ide like to spend some time on my cars before I do theirs.... Maybee... Depends if I need the cash or not...

I need some insperation... I want to work on my cars as all ive done this year is other peoples... After the renos..

Mike

Heres some pics of my new toy...

Original motor, gearbox and diff.. ALL running gear/ brakes front end, wheels and spare wheel, mechanicals all original.. No interior/carby...

Gaps are very good.. so no messing around their.

I have most bits to finnish.. I have a  FULL LC GTR interior.. It came out of the XU-1..

Looks like it had a viyl roof as well...

I havnt the trim tag... Its the funny green colour.. I will be changing that.. Dont know what colour yet..

It is an original, untouched GTR that has lots of FREE rust, lucky me :)

Has 2 tags, verified by Bazza as date correct, has the identifiers for a LC gtr.... Over all in my opinion.. good buy... Needs work, They all do... It will keep me off the streets for a bit :) Thats another story to be completed...

Also.. The cars at the back at the moment.. I have another 3 complete LC's at my mates house under cover, One is a coupe... This lot should keep me busy for a bit :)

Hi all...

Its been a while... The house renos are keeping me away.... Nearly done..

I did some more on the RH door today.. wanted a break from fixing the house, and it needs doing.....

As usual.. a little rust hole ends up being a big mess... Nothings changed :)...

Did the usual.. Cut out, sandblast, POR 15, make a new piece , fit and weld up ALL the small pin holes..

The roof next..

Also..

I picked up another LC 4cyl coupe today... cheap as, done a swap for a sedan I had.... Rear end panels are good.. Doors are stuffed but can be used for pieces... Drip rails are good and boot has surface rust.. RH front floor is has holes and inner door sills are salvagable.. Rear beaver is good... boot is good and roof is good, window cowl is savlagable or for pieces, rear parcel is untouched and rust free, rear window sill seems ok,, probably rusty..

Motor, etc is in a box..

ALL the  panels for my GTR, when I get to it that is...

But most important for me is it has a decent salvagable metal dash panel that I need for my XU-1...

Dont like the colour... poo brown after a pissup...

Had to add..its registerable, has papers.... But a 4 banger :( its a bit sad to think...

Im happy :)
