Thats a really sweet job you've done. Saw that article in Street Machine but didn't realise you were on the forum. Nice detailing in the engine bay.

After alot of research I have decided on the next more powerful motor for the tori. I have brought a L67(supercharged V6) engine.

Main reasons:
Same sump, engine mounts, T5 will bolt on, will make more power than a cammed 304, blower wine :))), keep it different.

Found myself a L67 locally for $900. The engine had approx 200,000kays. The engine had a suspect blown-head gasket, which I later found was not a blown head gasket but a blown LIM gasket. The LIM gasket was in pretty poor shape when I removed the LIM. The head gaskets seemed to be intact.

I picked the engine 1 week ago and after 4 hours I had both heads off.

I have since removed timing cover, so the bottome eng is ready to go to the machine shop.

The piston tops look ok, and the bottom end spins freely with a socket on the cranks bolt.
I will be taking the heads to a machine shop to inspect. Once I receive the 105pound springs and new valve seals I will get them to service the heads(Surface regrind, valve seats cleaned up, valves cleaned up too)
I will also be doing a DIY mild port/polish job to clean up the rough castings.
The M90 spins freely and seems fine.

One head had a small crack and I have sinced sourced another head and its at the machine shop getting check over.

Plans are
BYE A2A intercooled
600x300x76 intercooler
BYE U bend
85mm LS1 TB
JNT airbox
Ported Blower +LIM
XP HOT cam (Comp cams)
105pound valve springs
Chromoly Pushrods
Comp cams lifters
cometic head gaskets
42lbs injectors
Deleted balanced shaft with plugged oil feed.
Smaller pulley don't know what size yet. Prob 2.6"
MAFLESS tune by Dick. Hopefully I will be using the VT etc. ECU but if not I will jsut run the VP ECU and loom.
Hopefully I can just fit a bearing kit through the bottom end and retain the stock pistons to save a bit of cash.

Engine will make >300rwhp easy.

Cheers Youngy

I had a supercharged VT Berlina for the last 11 years and only updated because it had huge kms. They are great engine and great power curve especially with the Fitt 10 pound pulley. I think that engine in a torana with a manual gearbox would be a excellent package, plus its different.

cheers

Been a bit slack with the updates.

Work completed over the past couple of months.

I ported both heads my self and smoothed combustion chambers. (~15 hours)

Posted Image

All done by this little tool, no need for expensive dremmels

Posted Image

The blower was completely disassembled so that it could be ported, plus remove all the casting marks and polish to a mirror finish (~20 hours)

80 grit
Posted Image

While the blower was being polished the bottom end was taken to APM to be balanced.
Posted Image

240 grit
Posted Image

Finshed
Posted Image

The blower snout was also disassembled and polished
Posted Image

The intercooler plate didnot have the carbon fiber covering, so with a help of a mate we applied carbon fiber. I also cleaned up all ports to help air flow.

Posted Image
Posted Image

I received the short block back from the engine shop last week.
Posted Image

This shot shows the deleted balance shaft with plugged oil feed
Posted Image

Fitted ARP head studs and cometic head gaskets
Posted Image

I have rebuilt the oil pump, re fitted timing cover and fitted lower intake manifold to the block.

Today I masked up the engine and painted it.

nice work on the engine, did you just whack that slotted tool with the sandpaper in the drill? thats a pretty good idea. is that primer or the final colour of the engine?
