So the VP V6 has been removed.
I have completed the Lower bearing mod to the steering shaft including fitting a noathelene coupling and fully recoed UC (solid mount) steering rack.
All fitted up with DIY wheel alignment lol, steering feels much more direct can't wait to drive now
Also note too all hang onto the g clamp when removing the cotterpins lol. I was swinging off the G clamp with an open ender spanner and when the Cotter pin released the g clamp sprung off and got me lol.
Then as usual the VP sump that was meant to bolt straight on didn't. 3 bolt holes were different, 2 of the ARP main studs were hitting so I heated and stretched some of the metal. Also the dipstick was in a different location in the block so a new dipstick had to be fabricated and welded to the sump (Thanks to Joe from Profab for his help at short notice)
~8Hours of work later it was on.
Today I got out all the bolt on's and made sure it was all going to fit, after some small modifications everything fitted up nice.
L67 to torana wiring is being installed this weekend

At this stage i'm going for 98 tune for availability and so I can look after the T5 for a while lol.
I have setup the fuel system to cope with E85 just availability at the moment. Heathcoat Caltex is the closest (40mins).

The bolt ons arent that cheap but still costs less than a worked 304 from the sums i did.
Will be a while before i get it on the full tune though want to do at least 2000km running it in.

Cheers lee. Yeah i think it will shock alot of people, apparantly the torque output is even better.

The only problem I see is the nolathane rag coupler. Nolathane is not really suitable for this job and definitely does not like heat. There have been quite a few posts regarding nolathane coupler failure.
The rubber coupler is far superior, you can buy reproduction couplers for rare spares. Another alternative is to use a second uni however this could result steering column vibration and may not be technically legal.

I enlarged the passenger side to allow more air to be fed into the pod filter. Which will be covered similar to a MACE CAI.
I have also made a trial throttle cable bracket. Hopefully there will be enough firewall clearance, if not I have some other plans. Once installed I will have to get the cable shortened to suit. Im happy with the outcome as the throttle cable won't be seen.
Hard to see with phones camera

As you can see the BYE inter-cooler plate is not exactly designed for a torana.
So the motor has been moved forward 10mm, by modifying the engine plates that attach to the standard torana 6cyl engine mounts.
As expected I still couldn't fit the BYE plate.
So the heater outlet on the firewall were cut down to 1" long. I will be using short pieces of plain black hose to come out of the pipes and then take a sharp bend into the heater tap and straight 5/8" male to male barb, this all will be pretty much hidden. From there I will go with the -12 braided hose to the heater outlets on the motor which will have -12 weldon fittings with 90 degree bends fitted.
I have moved the BYE inlet in 35mm to clear the wiper motor and also help with the heater pipes. Next week some time I will be re resining and carbon fibering.
I will have 10mm clearance from the silicon hose to wiper motor. The blue 3/8 NPT -10an fitting will be replaced with a 90 degree fitting of the same specs. This is for the vacuum return from the catch can, to make it legal.
Also had to remove some of the firewall lip for the throttle body U bend unfortunately.
Bonnet clearance will be the next issue, hopefully it will be right. If not I plan to modify the bonnet rib, if not cut hole and maybe fit A9X scoop, if not have the blower sticking out the bonnet haha

can your diff handle the extra torque?
best i keep that spare vn t5 aside for you i think. lol
and make your coupler choice before the engine goes back in. i dont see you having much play room when its all back in.
look forward to seeing and hearing.

Yes the diff should be fine, alot of VL's are running 10s with the same diff.
I will be fitting a LOKKA centre which will help and also keep it legal.
Can't wait to get it on the road. Was planning for T fest, but its not going to happen with some of the unplanned delays.
Also don't want to rush anything.

Engine out so the extractors can be coated.
ECU has been sent away for running in tune, inter cooler plate is being modified and will be ready in a weeks time.
Should be ready to start this time next month.

So I have fitted the clutch and flywheel. The clutch is a custom 10.5" clutch from NPC in QLD. It still has an organic plate and is good for 280rwkw. It is to suit their billet flywheel.
I have picked up the ECU from dick which has the running in tune on it.
I have decided to change the engine mounts and modify the engine plates to standard fit 308 mounts.
I also ordered a set of 10mm Top gun leads
BYE plate has been modified and ready to go on:))
Extractors turned up today after being ceramic coated.
Getting close, hopefully have the engine mounts sorted by this weekend.
Motor in next week
